Riot allow T2 team to play with 2 imports during path of champions while Tier1 team cant.

I don't understand why T2 can have 2 extra-continental imports. T2 team should be allowed to have 2 import but one should be at least from their Tier 1.
Thought ?

because a lot of teams are built with imports in T2, and having to get rid of them is very difficult, especially in certain regions like India and Japan where importing is a common way to make your team decent. It has also famously happened in China with XLG and I think it would be unfair to ask those teams to remove a key member who they've been working for all year. The age restriction if you qualify to champs is a big enough deal already not to add extra requirements on top of it

It would impact only region importing Russian, (China), in Japan if you import 2 KR you are safe with the rule.

What do you prefer ? ask a team to drop a player once they win ascention, as they did every year ? Or ask a team to drop a player during offseason while they where about to drop a player. CN team shouldnt have been able to pick 2 Russian in the first place, it would have avoid so many problems. XLG is the reason why this rule should have existed in first place

that's not what we're discussing here tho. I'd prefer not asking anyone to drop any player throughout the season and I don't see how you're supposed to argue against that

Thats what we are discussing, if Riot forbbid T2 team to have 2 import from another continent at the start of the year as I propose, then the problem is solved no ?

But why would they do that?

To preserve competitive integrity and be sure XLG situation doesnt happen again ? To make T1 and T2 teamplay on an equal foot

but T1 and T2 do not play on equal footing by definitition. It is not unfair for T2 teams to be allowed to have 1 mort import, not like it matters anyway

Probably the biggest instance of this being an issue is the ripping apart of the 2023 Rare Atom roster. Had we seen that team compete in VCT, they could've been the second or third best Chinese team.

cause there is very low chance for tier 2 team to made top 4 with top teams

What sort of argument is this if anything T2 has much stricter rules ??
A tier 2 teams needs to have 3 players from one particular country to play in VCL which limits their playerpool lot more than a VCT team which can have anyone from whole region. No Team is going to qualify to international playoffs nd then replace their whole team so your argument makes no sense of anything it's tier 2 teams at disadvantage

So your point is basically that that T1 team can play with a mix of every T2 region, while T2 team cant, andgiving them 2 extra import is a way to balance it ?

I think you didn't understand some part, I was saying that in China, if a T2 team can play with 2 russian, and T1 team cant then it's unfair, in China situation. They are no question about changing the whole team ^^

yess it balances it out China is a unique problem bcz it's not a region but a single country which makes any import an outsider , I have been a firm believer of letting VCT China have 2 imports simply bcz they already have a whole league to themselves and don't have enough talent at the moment to back it up and be competitive so letting them have 2 imports allows them to improve while giving chances to players who generally dont get chance due to lack of slots in other leagues despite being good.
But unfortunately I dont think Riot will go that way due to pushback from Chinese people who are already pushing to create Chinese speaking teams

Tier 1 should stay with 2 imports too, for more fun and superteams to be formed all around the world.

Please no, we need team that keep their identity.
I think every T1 team shouldnt take "pseudo-import" MIBR shouldnt be allowed to play with 3 NA for exemple

The best way to balance this imo is to only allow one import from outside the region (amer, cn, emea, pacific) but still allowing 2 imports from outside their specific challengers league. That solves the problem when moving to tier 1 while also not overlimiting tier 2 teams

is it not because an "import" is like a spaniard playing in the DACH league, the only region that would actually benefit from this is china but its such an edge case its pointless to rule them differently

EMEA is a weird case, the system is too lenient
