35 hrs played, no post game done besides catching new pokemon in the extra wild zones
spoilers are marked

main story is great
team mz is fucking useless lmao
battles are either boringly easy or annoying just bc the opponent has an insane hp stat
some mega designs are SHIT lmao

but frosslass, greninja, barbaracle, and clefairy look amazing

RIP AZ carried kalos lore for 3000 years

battle system clears turn based yawnfest from other games

never entering prism tower was a let down

runs way better than s/v but cant really use that as a benchmark lmao (switch 1)
100+ side missions and they all felt exactly the same
not nearly as much exploration available as expected for a pokemon game
cant ride pokemon? why??
some locations cant be fast traveled to for reasons i cant understand

explorable team flare hideout 🙏🙏

exploring roofs feels like exploring the same fucking area 100 times over
the graphic issues like windows being flat dont affect the game really but i understand why people are upset about it

overall i give it like a solid 7/10

basically
pros: good story and battle mechanics
cons: useless villain team, bad battles, (some) bad mega designs, all side missions feel the same, less exploration than normal for a pokemon game, can't ride pokemon after it's been a staple for many games, weird fast travel issues, exploring roofs is a stupid mechanic, graphic issues w/ everything being flat

can we stop being okay with accepting shit games from big companies

i havent finished a pokemon game since sw/sh
i havent played one on hardware since sun and moon
i havent truly enjoyed one since X/Y

why did i enjoy X/Y? i was seven years old
at the end of the day pokemon is a franchise for children

obviously with the essentially infinite money nintendo/game freak has and the absurd price tag attached they SHOULD be making better products

even if i had abstained from playing ZA, nintendo wouldve still farmed its annual 80 gazillion dollars off pokemon from the parents who recognize the name and buy it out of familiarity

Battle mechanics is the only okay part, still a mid at best game for the 3rd time in a row. Now, my question is: WHY IN THE FLYING FUCK WOULD YOU SKIP REMAKING THE BEST POKEMON GAME (BW and BW2) TO REMAKE A GENERATION THATS ALREADY NOT THAT GOOD, FIRE EVERYONE AT NINTENDO AND PUT JUNICHI MASUDA BACK IN THE DIRECTOR ROLE. STOP WITH THIS SHITTY ASS 3D SLOP ARTSTYLE AND RETURN TO THE GREATNESS OF THE ANIMATED BLOCKY PIXELS.
