Feels bad for Nongshim

They were a competitive team for the majority of this year in tier 1

They went 3-1 in Ascension groups, and the only reason it wasn't 4-0 is a 9-4 choke on Lotus...

Now, if they don't win 3 straight matches, they don't get back into tier 1.

That's how much that one map matters. It just sucks that it comes down to that :(

the franchising system stopped us from seeing so much talent be played on lan

Tier 2 has a LOT of undiscovered talent that'll never see the light of day, but these guys have already proven they have what it takes to play at the highest level, and they didn't even do poorly this year, not in the VCT nor in Ascension. I'm happy for whoever wins but it feels like they got the short end of the stick

Why don't you think they can compete in tier 2 when they were one map away from going 4-0 in their Ascension group?

The entire problem is that if they lose a single series they're out for all of next year. Any team can lose a series to any other... SEN lost to MITH last year, NRG lost to Rapid Lofi, and FUT just lost a BO5 to ULF. Nongshim has no margin for error and that's what's unfortunate

ya but whats up with "feel bad" narrative lol, they arent out yet, "if they dont win 3 matches in a row they cant go back to tier 1" as its not happen for every team in some point of their career (prx need to win 5 matches in a row for them to qualify for masters toronto), its high stake competition, u choke u lose, maybe dont lose against naos next time

pretty true ngl. just win.

mentality like this is what brings success tbh. u see this shit in league all the time. it's a common mentality in asia too. i don't think the nongshim players will think like cloudberry if they lose, i think they'll think more like you. "we should have just won. we should have just been better"

WAIT since when were Nongshim 1 map away from going 4-0.
I think you have a misunderstanding here. Unlike Americas Ascension which uses swiss style round robin format, Pacific Ascension uses a system similar to let's say Pacific Stage 2, where each team plays a bo3 against every other team in their group. In this case Nongshim lost decisively against NAOS (it wasn't even close) in the first match. So they won 3 bo3, however they lost 1 as well, not maps.

If you look at NS's actual map wins in this group it's 6-4

According to the Pacific Ascension rulebook (https://i.imgur.com/K9F0CQi.png) you would look at H2H score between the 3 teams first... if Nongshim won that first map against Velocity, they would've won the series 2-0, which would give all 3 teams a 2-0 win and an 0-2 loss. It would then go to round differential between the three, which would put Nongshim in 1st (and more importantly, in the upper bracket)

my guy my problem with your statement is that you specifically stated that Nongshim was one map away from being 4-0 (which is incorrect as stated above).
