So i just finished Falcon and the Winter soldier and John Walker is objectively a good guy.
Like, literally, the only reason he even gets hate is that he isnt a boyscout like Steve Rogers (who quite literally killed during his tenure) , but other than that he is quite literally a normal person that wants to do good.
He was qualified for the job, He respects Falcon and Bucky and continuously tries to help them.
The guy he "Executed" was literally involved with killing innocent bystanders in an attempt to get attention, quite literally a terrorist.
The guy also had just killed his best friend.
The entire show is awfully written because it keeps trying to make the flagsmashers as sympathetic when they literally kill objectively innocent people, karli straight up says Lamar's didnt matter.
The Thunderbolts try to reinforce the idea that John's a bad guy by saying he neglected his family, but when you take into account that he was publicly humiliated and ostracized for killing a terrorist directly responsible for murdering his best friend and multiple other innocent people, his descent into depression makes total fucking sense.
His only sin is "shaming the legacy of captain america" but that isnt even totally his fault considering the government decided to make him Captain America
When you remember that flagsmashers essentially wanna go back to the blip era, you realize they are essentially Thanos apologists.
Essentially cultists killed his best friend and a bunch of other innocents, and somehow he gets overtly berated with hatred for killing people that sided with the guy responsible for HALF THE FUCKING UNIVERSE DISSAPPERING.
John Walker isnt a good Captain America, but he is objectively a good guy
