since challanger teams can now make champs, wouldnt challanger teams just pick up tier 1 players who didnt make champs to just play tier 2 and shit on everyone else and make champs?

ascension wouldnt make sense for next year bc they are planning a larger overhaul
challenger teams are directly fed into stage 2 playoffs based on challengers results so no you cant just pick up tier 1 players who didnt make it bc its happening at the same time i guess techinically you could do like a last minute pick up before the playoffs but you cant build a whole team of tier 1 players
the 2 ascension teams from this year (ones that retained their spot and the new ones that get in) will be part of the league as normal, this is for additional teams. that's what a gathered atleast
there is no 2026 ascensions that selects the 2027 teams. instead the best 2026 challengers teams will have a chance to qualify for champs directly. g2 is already part of tier 1 for 2026
no so ascension teams who renewed (g2 and xlg) will stay in the league and the teams who qualify via ascension this year will also be treated the same there also wont be a performance based extension for next year because 2027 will redesign the whole system.
because ascension wont be a thing next year they needed a new carrot on the stick to drive investment in tier 2 so they have bascially made it so teams in tier 2 who perform the best think like tsm and envy this year for example they would have played in stage 2 playoffs and had a chance to make it to champs. thats all the changes mean so in summary this years and current ascension teams will be treated as normal but cant extend their stay and tier 2 teams new end goal is champs.

so pretty much 2027 is going to be a major rework to the system so ascension is no longer a thing going forward instead they need a new carrot on the stick to drive tier 2 investment for 2026 so for example take tsm and envy this year instead of qualifying for ascension they would instead qualify for stage 2 playoffs and have a chance to make it to champs thats the new carrot on the stick instead of a slot in the league for 1 year its a chance at champs prize pool and skin bundle money.
