holy incredible changes coming. triple elim sounds awesome for an event like kick off, and having a challengers team jumping to champions creates storylines.
unless im misinterpreting they are just removing ascension and the promotion of tier 2 teams into tier 1 which is pretty bad imo, why could they not have both ascension and allow tier 2 teams to compete in champions
who knows they could let them ascend based off champs performance. but still braindead if they dont let a winning t2 team thru cus they didnt do well after being thrown into the highest competition possible after a full season of t2
Guest Spot and Ascension is gone in 2026 for the Path to Champions, Idk if this is just premonition that the current league structure is going to be gone
this is stupid as shit then unless the entire partnership system is changed because the tier 2 teams are just gonna get stomped most likely because they have never played the tier 1 teams before until they are at champs, i think removing guest slots is a big mistake and will kill tier 2 further honestly
im assuming theres gonna be some big changes for the franchise system in 2027, so i'd say its very likely that the current ascension system isn't compatible with their new system, so getting to play in champs is there replacement for 2026

Like swiss, so instead of Upper and Lower you now have Upper Middle and Lower
Lose in Upper > Go to Middle > Lose middle again > Go to Lower > Lose lower > home
It's 3 loss and out like Swiss the most simple way to explain
I have only watched NA tier 2 because of the ENVY hype, they seem so much worse than the tier 1 teams from what I have seen but hopefully other regions tier 2s are strong ig
Ig they will have to be on top of challenger teams and get to top 2 in vct if there are 2 teams qualifying through championship points. So yeah, really hard.

Triple elim does slightly worry me, hopefully its just a "weird swiss stage".
I can definitely see that ascension change being a temporary thing as they reveal a deeper integration with tier 2 for 2027+
