any tips/suggestions to help me rank up.
It seems like my astra and duelists are pretty good but I can’t really rank up on my comfort picks (harbor and breach)

if you play a lot of initiator get a duo and coordinate with them to set them up for ez frags
so as a fellow flex player
why are you playing duelist and then playing smokes and ini???
i'll give you props for choosing my fav controller (astra) to play, but she is very hard to master, I would recommend not playing her in lower ranks, you need good teammates (speaking from experience, no good teammates means nothing good) - her util is slow af to deploy and you really need to combo it to get anything good.
Choose agents with similar playstyles. Duelists entry in, while basically every other role either watches flank or sets up duelists - like i play senti, controller, and initiator (well no sage), and I often get confused - my biggest tip would be to stick to a fixed role/couple of roles with similar playstyles. Or just memorize lineups (i have watched WAY too many)
as other people in this thread have said, definitely get a good duo. You can either coordinate util (like double initiator or controller + initiator), or set them up (ex. controller/initiator + duelist), or just improve comms as a whole.
dude it's not that deep. if someone is lower than let's say around plat 3, they just need to be better than their enemies mechanics wise
... it is that deep. Imagine you get reconed, flashed, blinded, smoked off. You're never getting anything. you MUST smoke off an op, or find out the info, or post plant stall.
most utility in valorant is very easy to use. smokes are literally point and click. drones dont need lineups. a lot of postplant util is point and click. half the flashes don't need lineups either. ofc you need all of that but its just very easyy to learn and do.
u aint play initiator if u say u dont need lineups
tejo is bad now, no lineups necessary for him but you can't play him anymore he's just trash
sova needs way too many lineups (shock darts + recon)
fade needs lineups (eye + seize)
gekko, believe it or not, needs lineups for his molly (not that anyone uses gekko), plus all the random spots to throw dizzy straight up (ex. CGRS gekko dizzy out of tree on lotus)
Kay/o needs lineups (knife + molly + flash)
Skye doesn't need lineups, but basically no one plays her
Breach doesn't need lineups but he provides no info.
also i use lineups on viper (snakebite + orb, plus i memorized my walls obv) and vyse (thorns)
the problem is that I’m so un decisive when picking agents. I’m good at aiming with duelists + astra but my util seems very VERY lacking. My breach and harbor util seems good but my aim is horrible.
that's kinda fishy lol why does your aim get worse if you're on breach?
i mean i kinda get it since you have to think about using your util more, and you have to reset your aim each time you want to use an ability (unlike astra where you can just send it in the astral plane)
that being said, try to use your util more on instinct rather than thinking about it. I promise, this gets better with practice - one of the worst things to do is to die with full util. Try to "feel" when to use util, not think about it constantly (which will make your aim worse).
Probably because they are switching between roles too much, and are focusing too much on their utility to help the team. I (low immo) tried switching from duelist to initiator for an act, and because I was trying to have the best utility possible for my teammates, my stats struggled. I ended up switching back to duelist and regained my confidence.
You need to choose one role, Flash, or Recon Initiator, Duelist, Controller or Sentinel. Pick two agents from the role you want to play and instalock them. When you're a newer player you don't want to constantly be playing new agents. My advice would be picking two agents from the same role and mastering them.
meanwhile me just playing everything under the sun that is not a duelist or sage lol
it's very confusing tho sometimes, especially when i play viper and then a sentinel next game, since I lurk on both agents, I think i have a viper wall but then i realize i don't LOL
Coming from a once HARDSTUCK diamond for 5 episodes… just lock duelists and go fry. Aim and aim and aim
This is the tech. You can't count on others to carry a game for you, it needs to be you carrying the games.
The tracker link isn't working for some reason. When you reach gold, I'll buy you a $25 Valorant Gift Card if you're from the US (not sure if I can buy a gift card for other countries) to give you something to work towards. Just make sure to be consistent with it. It's better to play 3 comp games a day, 5-7 days a week than playing 10+ games one day, and not touching the game again for a week.
I haven’t been really consistent as I only have 44 matches played this act. I will probably try to push for silver and maybe get some of my higher ranked friends to coach me.
