Nah, two-time international winner and arguably the best player (texture was better imo, though) on both the squads; Meteor clears.
I think neither is top 5 if you look at them from a purely individual standpoint actually
If derke or Aspas had never won anything I would still have them top 10 but if sacy and meteor hadn’t won twice most people wouldn’t have them even top 20.
Meteor was debatably the best player during both of the trophies he’s won while Sacy is the only player to have won a champs and a masters with two different teams. Trophies have to account for something because if the goal of professional valorant is to win something.
Winning trophies is a team game though, you can’t really give the player a huge amount of credit unless they absolutely popped off (which meteor definitely did at Shanghai)
Meteor was not t1’s best player when they won, but he was maybe geng when they won (I personally had texture higher). However, if you also look at his entire career outside of the those two tournaments I don’t think he’s as good as less or Alfajer for an example.
Sacy was insane on loud but he was arguably sen’s worst player in 2024 and mid in 2023.
Say what you want about before the grand finals, but Meteor’s eco 4k on lotus vs Heretics and his 1v3 ace vs G2 on split changed the momentum during both of those games, if he doesn’t pull it off Gen G and T1 don’t win Shanghai or Bangkok.
It’s hard to judge Sacy’s impact on sentinels, obviously you can look at stats and say he wasn’t good during Sen’s Madrid run, but his supportive utility absolutely passes the eye test, and was clearly pivotal to sentinels win. Look at Sen now, They can barely beat G2 with a sub and their best placement this year has been 5-6th place.
You say Less was better, but what has Less done without Aspas or Saadak? Sacy and Meteor have found success on two different teams and in Sacy’s case, two vastly different environments
No one’s saying meteor didn’t have impact during Bangkok and Shanghai, I personally believe that Izu and texture were more impactful.
Sacy was good in 24, but he was still the overall worst on sen. He wasn’t really a fragger, and had some questionable deaths/moments throughout the year, but still brought a lot of impact with experience/midrounding.
Meteor didn’t exactly show up and hard carry when t1 slumped, whereas even when loud slumped less was still carrying them. Meteor plays well when his team plays well and poorly if they do, he’s just had better teams than less has since the loud fall off.
Sacy as well didn’t exactly have a great year in 2023 when sen were shit. My point being is that sacy and meteor aren’t better than less, they’ve just had better teams, which is why trophies only matter so much.
