Why Lakia’s Playstyle not that Popular?

I’ve been watching some older VODs and revisiting Lakia’s gameplay especially from his time with NUTURN and Gen.G, including that iconic Masters Reykjavik run. What stood out to me then (and still does) is how clean, calculated, and impact-heavy his playstyle was. He always seemed to pop off in high-pressure moments, playing smart and disciplined while still being explosive when needed.

I’m genuinely curious - why don’t we see more pros with that kind of playstyle nowadays?
Is it because of the current meta, agent pool, or maybe team systems that don’t allow for that kind of freedom or role flexibility?

Would love to hear your thoughts or if you know of any current players that resemble his style today

I think yoman had that similar style of play to lakia. I felt like he never gave his life up for free. Too bad that genG needed a tejo player. I mean cOm is the biggest example of playing for hero plays if you want someone else

I wonder why they dropped Yoman, I thought he was a major upgrade and a better fit on paper considering his past in being a Leader. Must have been an Internal Issue or because they were not getting any results.

I had imagined them being better than the previous GenG roster once they got their shit together like they did in Toronto, I guess we will never see it happen.

Ash isn't meant to be a tejo player nor does his playstyle really harmonize with it.
Gen.G really could've kept yoman, considering his mid-rounding capability, and like you said, playing a "hard to get" playstyle.
Gen.G prob got rid of him due to internal issues,or decided to nurture a young talent but IG we will never know.

Because it relies on your org not benching you after each split lakia is enough of a veteran to get away with it and even then it was honestly still just luck too like most orgs will just bench you anyway even with all that impact because they don't know what they're doing tbh
