this is probably one of the most interesting team dynamics ive ever seen in valorant. definitely the first team to have one like this.
on short notice the team has practice on some maps with one player, and some with another player. however, it is not like a typical 6 man roster where its all planned practice to allow the rotating players to shine. it is with randomness because of prepping with some players on some days for some maps for some opponents.
todays icebox was weird, because they could have easily just played with serial and went kamo on jett/gekko and serial on kj, but instead they did what seemed to be forcing kamo chamber to make everyone comfortable. i can only speculate as to why, but thankfully it worked out
also on todays sunset was also interesting, they could have played a similar comp to last time, where i would only suggest swapping keiko and pennys role (penny iso and keiko omen). this one is maybe easier to imagine the reasoning. they probably didnt like the iso comp and if penny isnt on duelist there isnt a good agent for him on sunset, as it would either be breach, omen, cypher or viper, or smth similar.
but anyway im gonna think of some comps that i would WANT liquid to play, although some of these i dont think will happen. maybe this will help me imagine what maps liquid will be strong on for the rest of the event
ASCENT: this one is pretty easy, they were inconsistent regionally but they have a lot of practice with double senti already and this is one of the best maps for it
yoru - kamo
sova - pati
omen - keiko
deadlock - serial
cypher - nats
i am confident serial plays with a similar comp to this
HAVEN: this map was awful for liquid with serial, often playing some shitty double senti comp and the viper comps didnt go well either. they could do a viper comp similar to GEN.Gs but id prefer double duelist with penny
yoru - kamo
neon - penny
sova - pati
omen - keiko
cypher - nats
i am confident penny plays with a similar comp to this (like penny iso or the last comp they used)
ICEBOX: the result vs mibr was very good, but i have an aversion to chamber. i also think theres some issue with kamos jett on this map, since it seems they always shy away from picking it
gekko - kamo
kayo - pati
harbor - keiko
viper - nats
kj - serial
i doubt serial plays icebox but he should
LOTUS: theres very little to go off with this map, i think a double duelist option could be strong but the default comp is probably best
raze - kamo
fade - pati
omen - keiko
viper - nats
kj - serial
hard to say who plays this one
PEARL: with so little time to practice u need a permaban and u might as well keep it as pearl, but it can be one of their best maps with penny imo
yoru - kamo
jett - penny
fade - pati
astra - keiko
vyse - nats
they prob keep banning pearl for a while but this is a clear pick if they want to play it imo
SPLIT: very strong map so i can understand changing nothing, but i just think penny is better than serial and he fits very well here
yoru - kamo
raze - penny
fade - pati
omen - keiko
viper - nats
probably serial playing instead
SUNSET: i was very surprised liquid picked this, i think they only picked it because mibr got rolled on it the day prior. otherwise i think sunset will be liquids worst map during this event.
neon - kamo
sova - pati
omen - keiko
viper - nats
cypher - serial
they likely keep this comp
TL;DR: liquid has rlly unorthodox situation and will be very interesting to watch develop. i think penny should play 3 maps in a double duelist with kamo, and serial the other 4 either as a second senti with nats or a sole senti when nats is on viper.
