objectively true, the level of competition is bound to increase over time with more scientific research on nutrition and fitness, and better analytical tools for strategy and tactics.
you cannot stop modern science from improving the quality of competition. what is will generally always be better than what was.
It's really hard to compare players in that context, since you could also argue that players might've done better have they had the resources and knowledge that current players now have, its best to acknowledge that they were great players in different eras of the game rather than pitting them against each other.
this bro knows ball. different contexts, we're talking about a player who played with a ball that could weigh 20% more, etc.
for sure but i'm sticking to the belief that Messi is better than Pele based off the numbers. While I know that statistics weren't recorded as in-depth during Pele's day, Messi has more Ballon d'Ors and seems to have better numbers in every applicable metric of the game, correct me if I'm wrong. The presence of verifiable numbers outweighs the unknown statistics of Pele's performances. Maybe objectively Pele is better if we had a time machine available to analyse his games, but we don't. So I'm just going to stick to the evidence we have.
