"Trent never had these stats before Tejo, it is a reasonable thing to say that Tejo just fits his playstyle perfectly and therefore makes him much better, much like yay with Chamber (although yay had the fact that he was also godlike on Jett going for him).

Trent in Stage 1/Kickoff spamming Tejo reached highs he never reached before. Downvote this to hell if you want, but it's the truth, Trent in 2024 without Tejo was hovering around 0.64-0.65 KPR and 1.0 rating, now he is suddenly Leo reincarnated, an improvement like that just doesn't happen out of nowhere, especially for a veteran like him that has been around since 2022.

Pre Tejo spam stats:

2024 Stage 2 Trent: 1.01 rating, 0.64 KPR, 0.39 APR and 17% clutch rate.

2024 Champions Trent: 0.96 rating, 0.65 KPR, 0.31 APR and 10% clutch rate.

Post Tejo spam stats:

2025 Kickoff Trent: 1.26 rating, 0.81 KPR, 0.21 APR and 26% clutch rate.

2025 Bangkok Trent: 1.21 rating, 0.76 KPR, 0.32 APR and 29% clutch rate.

2025 Stage 1 Trent: 1.24 rating, 0.76 KPR, 0.33 APR and 27% clutch rate.

Either he suddenly improved from a good Initiator into a Top 5 player in the entire planet OR maybe, just maybe, the disgustingly broken Agent just fits him like a glove. I've watched enough FPS to go for the 2nd option."

I also believe that his stats won't be THIS good after Tejo, He'll still be a good player but maybe like a 1.02 rating player like he was last year, where he will have bad maps too.
or maybe I'm wrong lol and he just improved DRASTICALLY WITHIN 6 MONTHS

it's alright to assume that Tejo is a better fit for him and he's playing better now but won't after Tejo, because we haven't seem him this good until Tejo. we will know truly after Toronto I guess.

he was okay mid at best
0.96 at champs
and 1.01 at stage 1
either he improved DRASTICALLY IN 6 MONTHS
or he is a perfect Tejo fit
correlation is not equal to causation but we can't say this without having evidence otherwise, we will know truly after toronto

but why is it that tejo "fits" other players like a glove too? what makes it so special compared to other initiators? and would these players put up better stats on nerfed tejo over other initiator agents or not?

that's what Toronto and tejo nerfs are for
we'll know what happens when these players play other Initiators

he’s played sova earlier on the year and had good stats on him so i’m not too worried

that sample Size is so small though, we'll know in Toronto and stage 2 for sure

there will simply always be a professional player who will handle the new agent better than the others, it will become apparent after the nerf

I do think he has improved somewhat as a player, but his performances will drop off with the nerfs/ if he swaps agents

It’s also plausible that he’s gotten better as a player. I would just wait for the nerf before jumping to rash conclusions

do you people think g2's opponents just stand in trent's salvos or something ?? His stats with sova in the last 90 days are damn near identical. He's been doing this shit lol. The difference in now and last year is icy & jawgemo.

G2's cautious style of play kinda fucks with their individual stats(see Masters Shanghai), and even worse when they lose

Trent leaf jawg can do so much more individually (as shown by challengers Trent, ascension Trent, played worse players but still) , but it doesn't fit with g2's current system

I'd pause before comparing teir 2 stats with tier 1 performance. It's just too unpredictable to tell

Not exactly comparable but I'm pretty sure Valyn mentioned that both TGRD and m80 were regularly frying VCT teams in scrims in 2023. At the same time, Trent was their best player in both 2022 and 2023, and his stats reflect it. You could argue that he farmed other T2 players in 2023, but you'd totally be missing that a good 3rd of them are currently Franchised this year and include names like: N4rrate, Verno, Yay, Oxy, Zander, Rossy, Supamen, etc. Plus he was a breakout initiator in 2022 among the rest of the known T1 names.

2024 was his absolute worst year in his career, and G2 still made top 3 at Shanghai and Champs playoffs.

  • Kickoff: 1.05
  • Stage 1: 1.08
  • Shanghai: Worst Performance (no rating cuz China stats)
  • Stage 2: 1.01
  • Champs: 0.96

2025 is just a return to form for him. He's not a Tejo merchant but the best player on Tejo.

  • Kickoff: 2nd at 1.26 with 221 Rounds
  • Bangkok: 3rd at 1.21 with 360 Rounds
  • Stage 1: 1st at 1.24 with 663 Rounds

I'm looking forward to seeing him prove that his current form doesn't rely on a specific agent. His Sova is already comparable to his Tejo and he just needs to prove it on Fade and other initiators so you new-gen viewers finally shut your mouths.

Yeah this is what I was thinking, 2024 was by far his worst year, and realistically G2 is better this year than last year, so he should have higher stats than last year anyway. Acting like the only difference between this year and last year is Tejo is very silly

This is exactly what I was coming to say. Thank you for putting in stats work so I didn't have to lol
Additional tidbit: Trent's all time Sova stats are almost identical to his Tejo stats and the sample size is more than 3 times larger.
Trent's mastery of Tejo in such a short time could simply be proof that if he needs to get this good at a single agent for the team, that he is capable of it.
If the team decides to run more Fade or whoever at Toronto hopefully he'll be able to prove me right, since they now have plenty of time to prep for it.
(Or he can just vibe out on Sova, that would be chill with me too.)

Edit: Someone above also mentioned that last year was with Icy and this year is with Jaw. No hate towards Icy, but Jaw just seems better... Idk if he's just a better fit, has a better base floor, both, or something else entirely, but the team looks back in frying form... When the move was first announced, everyone felt it was an upgrade and we know that Potter herself thought that Jaw was better than Icy too (since they were both on EG back in the day), so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. (Glad to see Icy back on an upswing in playoffs though.)

He def improved everything in his gameplay, aim, movement, positioning, util , etc

He’s become a much more complete player, one of the best initiators if not the best

his performance will definitely drop without tejo, but i think on sova he will be fine its honetly about the rest initiators that is worrying
