So in CS2, there are star roles depending on the positions you play on CT and T side. E.g Connector in Mirage, middle in Ancient, Connector/Water/Dark in Anubis, Outside in Nuke all on the CT side. What are those said star roles in Valorant? Is it given to the duelist player by default or can other role players also take said roles? I've always seen duelists taking good spots but I was just wondering if swapping those roles would be a good idea or not lol. What defines a star player in valorant?

Star roles in valorant are those who can frag most or shoot well. Majority of the time it's just duelist.

so in a team like Fnatic, i've seen Alfajer have star roles over Kajaak and Derke, teams do flex around it but it doesn't make much sense why because duelists usually have a get out of jail free card which is why they take fights in the first place, its been confusing me for a while because more and more teams have adopted the style of swapping the star roles off duelists now and just use them for making space... Can't really understand the meta nowadays personally.

star roles in valorant don't really depend on your position on the map bc those tend to change a lot throughout the half. It more so depends on the agents you play, but even there it doesn't always mean much. Like, you can be the star player by being an insane lurker, or a great duelist, or a clutch player, or a great site anchor ect.... There is no star role there only is star players

#4 and to add on,

from my experience, any agent with a get out of jail free card covers star roles. Your point is valid, agents are what define star roles indeed but we cannot discount positions:

1- Fracture B main, you can extend down there with your team, take fights, go back or extend further, that imo is a star position.
2- Haven A main, instant duel.

I'm sure there are more but I can't think straight but positions also matter in this case don't they?

I really think the concept of star role in itself doesn't make sense in that you cannot think about the game with it. There are star agents, there are strats, supportive utility, specific scenarios and situations ect... but the star role genrally doesn't make sense in valorant imo

For me star roles goes to 3 roles:

Duelist - as the entry player your team depends on you to get one before you die or at minimum just serve as a distraction for your team to get on to site.

Controller - smokes usually entry last so that means they are statistically the last to be alive. You need to be a star player if it comes down to a 1v1, 1v2, 1v3 clutch.

Sentinel/Lurker - Sentinels usually lurk or hold down site. You are mostly on you own and your team needs you to win gun fights when lurking or get a kill or two before going down when holding a site.

dont get me wrong it would be best if all your 5 players are star level, but if you only have 2 or 3 high level players you best put them onto those 3 roles.

I mean those are mostly rotator spots in CS, you are flexible enough to choose if you want to bring the fight or stay back and play 2nd. Anchors are definitely not a star role, first to die if they enter your site and last to kill if it's another site on the map
