Best rn, and is on pace for best of all time. Can't put him there yet, with 4 championships compared to 7 for Shu and Hamilton, plus the countable stats from them having longer careers, but if he keeps it up for another few years he'll be there for sure
Yeah, I think if he wins this year, he is undisputed top 3, and if he keeps it up for 3-4 more years like you said, then he has a good chance to be the greatest

Number of wins and championships is definitely a huge part of it, though. It's not the only thing that counts, but I think it would be unfair to say that Verstappen would be the GOAT if he retired today, because of the lack of longevity and accolades. That being said, I wouldn't be against having max in the top 3 of all time, and he is for sure on pace to challenge for GOAT status
