Real, like genuinely idk how people can be arsed to get offended over trans people
Like how little must u have going in in ur life to be actively transphobic online? Who fuckin cares?
Who gives a F about chat I ain’t reading allat anyway just watch the stream
I don’t like them either, but lowkey it’s a public space and unless they’re indicting straight harassment I think it’s important to not ban, or exclude people based off of their political views or norms. It’s a democracy and if you tell everyone from one side to leave you’re just gonna make an echo chamber
Okay but hate speech ≠ free speech
Your freedom ends where someone else's begins. And being a hateful prick online is just jobless as hell
hate speech cant exists if u want free speech and, free speech>our worthless feelings
there's a difference between an opinion and something potentially harmful and hateful
Hate anything is never EVER justified and never under free speech
From the moment you attempt to impede someone's freedom and autonomy or engage in something that is harmful to others for literally no reason, it's no longer "free speech"
Your freedom ends where someone else's begins.
I hate this line of thinking
Transphobia is a blatantly aggressive belief that effectively tries to deny other people's right to express themselves. How should that be allowed but banning people for saying it not be on the basis of freedom of expression?
It's more nuanced than this, though. Transphobia includes misgendering someone, right? Well, there are at least two major religions in which transgenderism is considered a sin, including lying about someone's sex. But I would suppose you would prefer those people not be allowed to have their freedom of expression, right? For some people to be free, others have to be silenced.
Edit: Removed yap.
Exactly this. It’s a big world and it’s important to realise this and not make communities into echo chambers where you disallow anything that is not within your ideologies.
The nuances are massive and it truly feels like a lot if people think you can control or decide what other people can think. It’s very dangerous ngl
I don't think wanting to police blatant hate speech and demanding some level of civility is a dangerous line of thinking or can be called an echo chamber
I'm not necessarily agreeing with one side or the other, here. I'm just pointing out that there is no such thing as right to expression when you're actively silencing another side for disagreeing with you.
One can claim they're doing the right thing because the other side is being hateful, but if you ask a devout Christian to look at a man and call them a woman, you're asking them to defy their religion, is that not hateful? Is that freedom of expression?
I say this as someone who'll happily refer to Florescent as a woman. I just recognise that the other side also has the right to not refer to trans-women as women. Especially if it requires them rejecting their own beliefs. At that point you're just telling them to shut up and bow down you.
See, here's where things get interesting. What is hate speech?
It's hate speech and punishable to call the President of China Winnie the Pooh if you live in China. Do you agree?
It's hate speech and punishable to reject certain religions in a certain countries. Do you agree?
It's hate speech and punishable to misgender someone in the UK. Do you agree?
You might agree with all of these, or only one or two of them. But notice how the definition of hate speech changes from culture to culture. So, tell me at what points should we restrict freedom of expression in order to combat hate speech, and I'll tell you why the culture next door will tell you something different.
if degens didnt exist we woudnt even have esports. if we did it would probably be who can maybe the gayest sims character competition
wym by gayest sims character competition? did you even think while writing your reply?
just close chat. i always close chat since the majority of chatters say the most stupid things
floroscent isnt winning anything, when miniboo was shit it was the same, when derke is shit now people are still saying the same so when florascent is not winning its the same for flor as well
Idk about that stuff since the chat becomes so fast but surely there was a lot of copium for apeks until the Kaajak round
it just is what it is. close chat and focus on the game, as long as flor exists in VCT people will never stop bringing up her identity in chat and there are 3 reasons why:
a) they actually don't know - this is okay as long as they don't continue to bring it up/be disrespectful once they learn
b) they are ragebaiting - i suspect this is the most common reason why people bring it up, because they have pathetic little lives and triggering people/getting banned in stream chats is the only thing that brings them joy
c) they just want to take any opportunity to be transphobic - overlap with the one above too, 99.9% of ragebaiters are also transphobic anyway
as someone who isn't trans but is LGBT at some point you become numb to it and learn to ignore, it never truly stops hurting knowing how many people want you literally dead, but at the same time it's whatever, VCT chat isn't real life
I feel you
And I understand your point perfectly, I just felt the need to express it a little, y'know?
I'm also queer (not trans) and seeing this happen is just too much sometimes, I think I just kinda needed some reassurance that there were still some good (aka normal) people in the community
