So I'm going to uni in Germany and I neither speak German and my English is mediocre while speaking any advice to make new friends who don't speak the same language as you.

when i was in japan it was pretty tricky to make friends because i can’t speak the language and japanese people tend to be pretty closed off
important thing is to force yourself to communicate no matter how scuffed it is. also physical activity is an easy gateway, i made a bunch of my first friends there from rock climbing because we didn’t really have to have deep conversations lol
Tell them you want to taste different beers. Alcohol is the universal language.
