There's nothing to "trust." It's based on elo and, therefore, based on results. If you like basing everything on opinion, then, sure, it isn't ideal. But if you like facts then ranking by elo is great. I'm a facts guy.
Maybe the way you should look at the ranking is that they are a step behind current form, because obviously they cannot predict the future. Use the rankings to give you an understanding of where the teams are based on their past results. Again, there's nothing to "trust," lol.

Vikings for me. Got nothing against them but they were hyped sooo much by pros and fans. Ended up just finishing 6th on iceland, and only beating X10 which played puggy.
They ended on 6th but they lost to... Sentinels and Liquid. I mean, we can't properly rank teams around the world just by Iceland alone, we still have to wait until Champions, on my opinion.
Of course I am not saying that Vikings is top of the world, but I think they can do better.
