Brother, it doesn't matter if the teams are trying or not, they probably are. The point is even if they are trying, they are not on their A game. They are tired from the previous Masters and they are preparing more for Champs with a different map pool. Doesn't help the tourney's case when they have single elims format and matches are played together, it just dilutes the legitimacy of the tournament. And viewers know that, that's why it has piss poor viewership.

EWC having only 6 days DOES NOT help your case. If anything, that's a testament on how inferior it is to a more comprehensive tournament like a Masters/Champs. Imagine if Toronto was like EWC, FNC wouldn't even sniff the grand finals since lowers don't exist, even tho they were clearly the 2nd best team in that tournament. Compare them yourself, use your eyes. Also, PatMen himself just mentioned on the post-match interview how tired they were which affected their performance. Their complaint about scarce tournaments were about 6-month offseasons, not even remotely close to this situation where two global lans are SIXTEEN days apart from each other. 183 days ≠ 16 days. Take into account the two different timezones btw, imagine the jetlag. Then you put them in a single elims blender? The tourney is still good and fun, just noticeably worse than masters in all aspects except oil money.

Prize pool is higher but we are talking about prestige here. It cannot objectively have higher prestige when the viewership of the event is like 10x less than masters, signifying that people don't take it as seriously. Factor in that it's also too close to the actual masters, this feels too much of a forced tourney.

Because ideally, showmatches are meant to feature big content creators with fanbases that wouldn't normally watch valorant. If they feature all pro players, they would just attract the people who would watch the event regardless anyway. Your idea would fit more into an all-star game type thing.
