Serious question, I really don't understand the format. Why they are boosting shitty but popular / high fan base teams for viewership?

because at the end of the day the small indie company cares about money
nothing less, nothing more.
Organisations not teams. Its not about the roster but the organisations. Its like mutual investment by riot and the orgs to make a sustainable career in valo esports.
Give it some time, you'll be glad teams got partnered in the future. Fan bases and viewer bases of individual teams will grow with consistent teams being in league.
bro i swear this forum is a bunch of kids that don't know how franchising work and why its profitable long term. Franchised sports trade playes all the time. The point of any successful sports or esports is getting massive viewership and sponsors. Hence why teams with big clout is a factor, also teams without controversial stuff (TSM/G2), orgs with good financials/track record. So many things that ppl don't know only riot and the teams do.
I'm very tempted to include the paragraph I wrote about franchsing but people don't listen I swear
they won't lol, they don't even consider that part of the deal is these teams get highly competitive rosters. Just overreacting cause their favorite players didn't make it.
Business.
You don't see a passionate game company that actually cares about the competitive scene and what's best for them
It helps riot regulate and stabilise the esport. Riot believes without having control over the esport, and letting it function upon it's own can cause problems in stability and longevity of the esport. that's why they are franchising all orgs which are stable and have shown they are capable of being partners of riot games in Valorant. Controversies Have cause teams like g2 lose their spot and Newer faces like The Guard and FPX have also Not made it. It benefits in long term and will grow the esport like it would not be able to on it's own
ALL THESE ORGs, many of them stayed until now just for that "franchising spot". this is why you see so many org investing to valorant from early 2021
they are bleeding money so much rn just for that bag.
Because money, and money brings stability and a balance to the scene long term wise, that is literally looking for the esport, it really is the best for the esport imo
Riot looked for these things stated in their newest article,
