I'd say underrating KR/JP and overrating SEA. Problem with KR/JP is that they have one team that they send out lol, ofc they won't have multiple teams doing well internationally. VS have just always had a shitty group stage or did better than most of APAC though usually, and if you want to go off of improvement, JP are the most improved, from masters 1-3 u can see CR and ZETA just getting so much better.
I'd honestly go with EMEA, NA, BR, SEA, KR/JP.
I think the judgement that KR/JP are one team regions is kinda dumb bc they literally can only bring out one team, and for the majority of JP's history, they haven't been a one team region. KR are also are definitely not a one team region, Nuturn bringing down VS and just Damwon, ONS, TNL, I don't think KR are a one team region anymore.
Or more like EMEA, NA, BR, KR, SEA, JP, LATAM, SA. KR just had an unfortunate Masters this time imo.
Yeah the reason I said “one team region” is because DRX absolutely demolished in their region. They always have. Other than Nuturn last year, there has not been a single team that has been able to topple them. However, to your point, it’s hard to scale teams to international competition considering they have never been.
It’s all guesswork when comparing regions, so seeing how DRX performs at international events and how they destroy in their region leads me to think the REGION not DRX has a lot of work to do, & they will absolutely be really good.
As far as APAC/SEA, I rated them above KR because, as a region, they have outperformed KR in more recent tournaments (APAC LCQ, Champions, & now this Masters)
even Chet said M3C (Gambit) and FPX are the best teams in the world (for them at least, since they got owned in scrims by these two teams). Also we didn't see any EU vs NA matchup, so adding this to the fact that the best team from the tournament got owned by two teams from EMEA, who didn't was at full strenght in this Masters specific and the other 3 were playing with some changes, we can say that the teams from EMEA can probably win against the teams from NA or at least play equally.
G2's performance was underwhelming to say the least and even if Chet admits that M3C is good, if they were really good they would've made it to the event, especially with only having to get top 4. TL and G2 both had nothing wrong with their teams and they both underperformed when they got to playoffs, so then the only team that has a real excuse is FPX, because Fnatic (since they were 3rd in the region) wasn't supposed to go as far if you go only based of seeding. FPX would have to be miles ahead of G2 to actually have a good performance at masters if they did get their visas worked out. Overall my point is EMEA's two teams that actually had their rosters that they were supposed to have went out early in the playoffs and NA won the whole tourney (and beat the team that sent G2 to lowers).
i would say apac or kr 3rd best bc theyve been more consistent. NA and EMEA always battling around 1st and 2nd but apac has been p good consistently and kr has gotten good finishes in masters 2 3 2021 and masters 1 2022 so i think brazils good showing isnt enough just yet but it will probably be up there. especially if teams that can win against loud pop up too.
yea sorry but loud made it to the top because they aggressively shit on the rest of brazil
im not saying its a bad region but they got this far because of the good team, i think brazil has the potential to create like 3 other super teams and thats about it
NIP looked hella disappointing imo in the final vs loud and even during some of their previous games during challengers
even the zeta game they looked hella weak too
