In the second match of Valorant Champions 2026, G2 Esports G2 Esports North America Rank #4 jawgemo Alexander Mor BABYBAY Andrej Francisty trent Trent Cairns valyn Jacob Batio leaf Nathan Orf swept TYLOO TYLOO China Rank #1 splash Moses Christophe Jonathan Scales Zhang Zhen (张震) Erv Shen Zhiwei slowly Kelun Sun (孙科伦) SiuFatBB Pong Gaa Hei (庞加曦) xihe Peng Wenbo (彭文博) 2-0 to earn the Americas squad its first victory in Group C.

The two squads enter Champions in very different positions: TYLOO is the top seed from China, while G2 enters an international without a preceding regional trophy for the first time since Champs in 2024. Yet, the Chinese squad's lack of international experience was evident, as G2 comfortably handled the firepower from the second half of map one onward.

The series began with G2 on its comfort map pick of Lotus, one where the team runs double-Controller and Vyse. Competing against a different variation of double-Controller from TYLOO, G2 earned the first pistol win against the loud Chinese crowd supporting their top seed.

The first half was tense, as TYLOO fought back to tie the map both at 4-4 and 6-6 entering the break. Of all the talent on TYLOO, splash was the catalyst to keep his team in the map, with his Neon play catching G2 off guard multiple times.

Entering the second half, G2 took the second pistol win and used it to convert the bonus and run ahead to a perfect half. After a rough first half, jawgemo started heating up alongside the rest of his team. Notably, the regional form from trent on Skye carried over, as G2 rocketed to a 13-6 map win.

Moving to a map where both teams looked dominant regionally, the Sunset comps also looked similar with Sage and Chamber. The pistol wins continued for G2, and despite TYLOO punishing BABYBAY multiple times, trent led his team to a 7-1 lead.

Scales nearly landed an ace clutch to stop the momentum from a carefree G2 squad, yet the Americas four seed entered the half up 10-2.

The perfect pistol streak continued with a fast mid fight ending in favor of G2, and an eco round proved to be the end of any comeback hopes from TYLOO.

G2 Esports earned a 13-3 map win on Sunset to close out the sweep victory, moving on to the first playoff qualification match of Champs against a familiar foe in Paper Rex. As for TYLOO, the team will play an elimination match against Team Liquid later on in groups.

From the Press Room

TYLOO SiuFatBB on his team's journey to Champs: “For me personally, I switched teams to get back to an international. We're the first seed, representing the region, and looking back, we got through a lot of difficulties to get here. We're looking for good results, of course, but after this loss, we'll go back through the game. It'll be a precious experience.”

G2 BABYBAY on the team's mindset entering Champs: “We've been tense going into internationals for a while, for good reason. We have expectations to compete, to win the tournaments. But this time, if you want to win, you have to walk a line. We've been playing almost too much together, and now we're letting our mechanics shine.”

G2 valyn on the team's confidence: “Not living up to our own expectations has only lit a fire under us to win it all. I think we can lift a trophy, but this was just the first game. We're all just trying to seize this opportunity together and end it with a bang.”
