I'm happy its becoming more normal to realize that TenZ does not belong in the top 5 players of all time, a trophy in 2021 basically means nothing today, and his 2nd trophy was from an 8 team masters, and he wasn't even the best player on his team.

Also he destroyed the best meta we've ever had (2025 champs) because he failed to understand an extremely obvious problem, TEJO was why utility felt horrible, not anyone else. Pro Valorant player TenZ can't wrap his head around basic marco understanding of the game

Tenz aside, champs 25 meta was only good cus DRX was the only team that figured out that waylay yoru was broken. If they kept it the same it would have been very similiar to kickoff meta

People say champs 25 meta is the best cuz they’re dumb. They think it was the most versatile but the reality is that it was just no one understood the meta well enough except DRX. If any better team adapted Yoru Waylay earlier than DRX, they would have won champs. The Madrid and Shanghai metas had more options

Nobody can win by themselves, otherwise Aspas wouldve had like 3 champs trophies by now based on how people talk about him. Ethan shouldn’t be in consideration for top 5 oat since he wasn’t the best player on either champs rosters if all that mattered were being the best/top fragger.

I think players that retire often fall into irrelevancy for those who simply care about watching VCT and enjoying the wonderful sport of Valorant, rather than following for things outside of pro matches. After TenZ retired, the only point in time where I thought about him was when he participated in a showmatch, or when I had to read 50 threads about how his girlfriend left him. Retired players like FNS stay relevant by watchpartying the games, and still being in the eyes of VCT fans, which TenZ rarely if ever does.

2021 slander is okay
2024 slander is not
SEN had to beat NRG superteam to qualify to madrid, they won against giants like prx, heretics, and KC (kc was good they won emea kickoff).
They lost in the upper final to geng, and then proceeded to win the trophy in map 5 on icebox, one of their worst maps throughout kickoff and madrid
Mind u sen hadnt qualified to an international in almost 3 years at this point.

Also its an 8 team masters, which naturally makes it easier to win, you have to play less matches. Theres a reason everyone celebrated when Riot removed them.

To clarify I dont think the trophy or year is "fraudulent", im saying that he wasnt the best player on his team. A true top 5 player oat would always be the best player on his team. Imagine of Michael Jordan wasnt the best player on his team for half his championships, he would no longer be top 5

Also ur point on not being the best player on his team is kinda misleading.
He had one bad game, the upper final against geng
He was playing a supporting role to zekken, who was easily the best player in the world
Tenz was in the top 10 stats wise in the event, third best on his team (very tight gap between him, zekken, and johnqt).
He was the second best player on sen with a 1.1 rating playing gekko kayo and omen at champs, 0.02 behind zekken.
He was one of the most pivotal players, without him sen werent winning madrid or getting 4th at champs
He was the best in the world in 2021. Sure he isnt a top 5 of all time, but he is an icon, and arguably top 5 of all time

I watched that Sen 2021 team.

No one has ever had that teams Aura.

Tenz was such a celebrity. The only close comparison was the EL Diablo mania.

Tenz played with an intense in your face style. He literally ran at the other team and aim diffed the fuck out of them.

He was just better than everyone else by miles.

I hope I get to see that kind of dominance again.

TenZ is by far the most influential valorant player of all time but he was nowhere near the best player in the world after like 2022, he got by on being mechanically gifted in the earliest stages of the game where he actually succeeded bc nobody had any understanding of how to use valorant util and could just dry swing and kill everyone. He's very good and probably the most famous valorant pro we will ever have but keeping him in top 5 convos is way too much considering how he has actually performed past Reykjavik 2021. He's in top 10 for me mostly for his role in the popularity of the game in the early years tho.
