CN issue awareness post

i feel like a lot of people don't really know what chinas issues are and just see these lack luster performances so i thought id try to shed some light on it for those interested.

1. Early Franchising
   China immediately entering franchised hurt their talent development drastically this is still prevalent in the league with a lot of players not really being tier 1 material when compared to other leagues but players with potential are sitting in tier 2 without a way to impact the region on a major scale

2. Hard to scout talent
   Ties directly into the previous point but its extremely hard to scout in china the tier 2 leagues format is very obscure and isnt well documented on platforms like vlr and all of the china teams have academys as well but instead of being integrated into the tier 2 system like other regions they all just play each other with a completely different map pool than what the rest of the league is playing which makes it harder to pull up talent. this is the reason for the influx of imports in the region.

3. Lack of leadership
   also ties into previous points but partly due to getting the game late china doesn't have many experienced igls or coaches which is why most of the successful teams in china have imported coaches with a better understanding of the game but even still many of these china teams arent able to get proper reps in matches and end up with misleading map stats heading into internationals

4. Constant travel
   this is specific to this year but the teams in china are constantly travelling and arent able to practice in ideal conditions as well as riot not doing a great job at accommodating the teams

5. Language barrier
   due to the influx of imports in the region most teams unless built with it in mind (xlg) have language barriers this obviously disrupts instant decision making and team cohesion and gets punished by the international teams that don't have these issues

i don't think any of these issue's will get fully resolved but i do think that the region will continue to have teams who peak at the right time (edg, wolves esc) but until riot restructures the league these issues are just too hard to fix

Early Franchising

I see your point, but most of the chinese teams currently have good talent, the IGL's and intiators in general are lacking but they have quite the few worldclass controller, sentinel and duelist players <- including imports cuz they play in china

Hard to scout talent

I mean, its better documented in china, and the teams scouting are from china. its not like they use vlr in china unless your an international coach (then maybe?) but overall tier 2 there is a bit of a mess I agree. Like Erv is insane but I genuinely have 0 clue where he came from.

Lack of leadership

100% and the biggest reason why china is bad and they coaches/igls they import usually are bad or just not to the level of international teams (due to language barrier)

Constant travel

I mean yeah, but this isnt that big of a deal imo

I mean yeah but this only applies to certain teams and the imports they choose. but it does limit they type of imports they can bring most of the time unless the roster decides to switch to english like XLG you mentioned before

overall I agree quite a bit but the traveling and early franchasing arent that big of a deal. id focus more on leadership and language barrier

language barrier is the reason they can't do well

Other regions youngest player can play with some players that VCT does not want, but China can only play with streamer, even last year it was a tight situation. The previous CN National had four junior teams, but last December it was only cut to one.

They just cannot elevate their gameplay it's just slugfest every fucking time. If riot wants to develop the region i think they should merge china with sea and make korea and japan seperate region

PC gamming is not popular in asian countries. people just play for fun not for improving, so the talent pool is very less. only in korea and thai they play seriously

its just a skill issue
