How do you even fix EDG???

So let's be real, this team has looked pretty bad since they the played upper final at Bangkok. Ignoring everything that went wrong there, genuinely what are they supposed to do? They've tried double duelist (stage 1, 2, and Champs in 2025), it didn't go well. Sure they lost a close game against the eventual Champions in NRG, but then they kinda shit the bed against liquid. In 2026, they've been doing double duelist, and then CB entry + KK chamber. Sometimes it looks alright, but most of the time it doesn't. While I don't really know Esports too well, isn't EDG supposed to be a premier org in CN? Shouldn't they be able to sign any player they want? Like the whole org and everything they've done since benching S1Mon after the NOVA loss, just makes them look lost. I've been rooting for this team since I started watching VCT back at masters Tokyo back in 2023, and I get that you can't always be international contenders every tournament. But like they shouldn't be struggling this much, at this point they would look better if Haodong was the 5th.

Cant edg just go on their knees begging S1mon to comeback ? Wtf are they doing

S1mon was spotted supporting them during their CN final games so maybe they patched things up a bit? Might just be the manager needing to apologize or something now

IIRC, the manager at the time they had the internal conflicts has already been replaced. I think this would probably be the best option right now tbh, like S1Mon made this team look the best they ever did.

I dont think it was S1mon, it was nobodys calling (and finally being able to have more say over the comps after releasing coach AfteR), people forget there were multiple changes other than S1mon that changed the team a lot (comps, playstyle, etc)

As an EDG fan who wants to see the best for my team I have to be realistic and say that S1mon will not fix anything unfortunately. They either need coaching to work more with nobody or get a new IGL/coach. I'm still willing to see how things work out with Autumn but I'm ngl his timeouts have looked useless so far

It definitely wasn't just S1Mon that caused their success in Champs 2024, everything was going well for them outside of ecos. I want them to get back to success, I just don't see any path forward with how the team is currently being run. Like the most of the comps have been a struggle, the way they're playing in general has been a bit lacking. I just hope that whoever is in charge over there, can do something so that they can make London and have some success there.

I think if anything we just gotta believe in them, even when S1mon first joined (after their terrible loss at Shanghai) everyone was skeptical and thought EDG weren't picking up the right people. Just give the rookies a chance (S1mon was literally one), dont replace CB - if anything he's been the best pickup so far, regionally he has beeen genuinely insane. Let him get some more international experience and I'm sure he will not just match but top EDG's level

The main problem at the moment is EDG is extremely unsure of any specific playstyle to lean into. Back with coach AfteR 2 year ago they tried to play an extremely slow FNC style, then after kicking that coach and letting Nobody decide on most of the strats they went back to a mix of CN aggro style with a mix of their old disciplined slower style (which obvs helped them win champs) and now they're just all over the place and fighting one by one. (Likely Autumn's decision)

Autumn is trying to lean into the players strengths but it's wayy too unstructured at the moment especially with all the comps they tried out (and for some reason switched back at internationals?) They probably need more time to get used to a non-chinese coach + CB + all the new strats theyre experimenting with. But I'd say the main issue still really lies in nobody, if he doesnt improve his calling and mechanics then its over

S1mon doesnt want to come back and theres no guarantee at all that just with S1mon, things will work out. The main issue is Nobody has falling off in calling, there are some analysis of his calling during champs and it was pretty incredible some of the reads they are getting - now it's VERY bad

I think Autumn has actually encouraged them to take aggro fights more (despite no proactive strats on def) which has probably taken them in the wrong direction though I understand his thought process

murder (ingame) autumn, get an actually competent coach
work heavily on macro

their shooting is still really good, its just cn macro which is slowing them down

The thing is, back when they had S1Mon in Bangkok sure KK's Yoru isn't great but it looked much better there than at it did at Champs. They also tried waylay 1 time back in the loss to NOVA, like KK can play it.

form a team around kk, give him main duelist. find a good secondary setup init (breach, kayo etc).
or find a good yoru player.

CB is a very good yoru player, its his first international and even then he didnt do that bad given EDG was lacking macro and structure

hindsight, KK has made far more questionable plays than CB over the years

they should really consider importing eu or na coach, the players are not the problem besides cb. I dont think cb is edg quality

If you watched the regionals CB is arguably their 2nd best player, the rest of the core also wasnt incredible at their first international

CB is actually probably the smartest player before Chichoo, EDG need someone like that who doesnt make questionable decisions (like KK)

my bad I didnt watch edg that much this year, cb international performance just felt very underwhelming. I guess they just need more time, its just kick off

EDG just sucked in general it's honestly difficult for CB to look that great when their lack of macro causes them to be so uncomfortable in doing basically anything, like if anything Nobody's calling has been terrible

They need to start importing someone cracked to help kangkang and comms in english so autumn can be somewhat useful since there's no way he kept speaking to translator on timeouts

just more time and they will be fine. nobody might have to go through an experiment or 2 cause he needs to step up the calls & shooting
