G2 Getting grouped

I hate how the teams most people favor teams with too much firepower and not enough leadership.
They kicked Jonah, who was the best support player in NA as well as their secondary caller, in favor of another duelist.

I feel like they've lost their identity as a slow, meticulous team in favor of being another team who tries to be PAPEREX, and I feel like the second someone starts antistratting them they're getting fucked, as they don't have that strategic leadership anymore.

ehh I think they'll only start getting punished by stage 1. Leadership will definitely be an issue I agree, but I don't think teams will be able to figure out their micro/macro gameplay YET.

JonahP turned from a underrated player too the most overrated system player OAT in 2 weeks, They don't need JonahP they needed firepower and a performance coach, what did they get? Upgraded firepower and a performance coach

if performance coaches help in instilling positivity and confidence in a team, then they will be super impactful for g2, as in all the international losses last year, it felt like they choked and lost, take t1-g2 bangkok, prx-g2 both iterations (champs loss was just nerves)

Dunno if that's a good thing with the double duelist look they're running on every map, it limits their playmaking. We'll see when they go against prx

they got pounded by double duelist at every international they played in 2025

their best chance to win a trophy with jonahp on the roster was masters bangkok and since then they’ve been struggling to keep up with the meta (some of their comps especially at champs were very questionable)

the slow methodical playstyle isn’t going to get them anywhere in this meta given that every team with the exception of NRG is running double duelist and favoring aggression over slower play. I personally think it’s a good move that they switched to double duelist as it helps jawgemo enable himself and make his identity shine more which he was heavily struggling to do in prior G2 if you’ve watched their games, but only time will tell.

It's not babybay I have a problem with, it's that they had to lose a lot of their macro ability in the process. Comparing G2 vods from champs to now, their calling is a lot simpler.

that tends to happen when you run double duelist compositions & it’s why you see so many of these newer teams succeed

perhaps in their eyes simple might be the best way to proceed

riot has systematically made complex macro less and less important every year since 2023, duelists are too powerful compared to initiators/sentinels right now, running it down and keeping it simple is the meta and imo that's been true since 2024. Teams don't even have time to refine their macro and ideas nowadays because riot changes the game/map pool a lot before every international. Pure support players with inconsistent firepower like jonahp are gonna be less and less relevant as time goes on unless riot do a 180 with their direction for the game
