The way I see it, there are two types of sentinels

1. Passive info (KJ, cypher, vyse, tejo)
2. Anchors (sage, deadlock)

The main problem with the first category is the lack of stopping power in general.
We can see their power in being able to get really strong attack side info, as well as hold important map control on defense (KJ bit haven garage, cam repop split b main)
But other than that, thier stall is underlined, which makes them throw agents in a double duelist (especially neon) meta.

The anchors have great stall, but on the exact opposite side of the coin, have little info. Instead, these agents are used in active defense, rather than just being passive, which makes them useless in comparison to an initiator.

If you're actively holding a space anyways, wouldn't it just be better to run a (for example) Kay/0 to periodically knife, and be able to Molly the choke when they push, as well as be a better attacker in every regard?

That's why we see deadlock used in that flex space with info sentis (sage KJ on icebox, cypher deadlock in 24 on bind / ascent), as they are used in the flex role, not the sentinel role . For deadlock and sage, buff their utility (gravnet, slows) not the stall.
