Microsoft you bunch of idiots what is this shitty RAM-hogging shitty electron app you guys have made? Can’t handle opening and navigating a mid-sized repository.

Fuck this I’m going to Neovim.

are you on like 8 gigs of ram and a billion chrome tabs and have like hundreds UI extensions running on VS Code?

16 GB RAM. Extensions: Prettier, ESLint, Java extensions (the basic ones), SpringBoot 2 extensions, Vim, Python, that's it. Default UI.

Open project -> "hey vscode could you search for this API endpoint and tell me where the controller is?" -> app hangs -> check RAM usage -> fuck this

Visual Studio is the single worst application I have worked with. God bless vsc for supporting jdk so I don't lose my shit

How much RAM does it consume? I have 32 GB of RAM on my PC and it works seamlessly with large repos too.. Maybe its the 32G RAM I know lol but I'm still wondering how much RAM does it really use

Not sure why exactly youre having that much of an issue with it, but the sooner you learn vim the better regardless

Hope Zed catches up soon, but Nvim will always work till then

open a decently large codebase and try opening/navigating between a few files. and pray your system doesn't freeze/hang.
