they won a trophy and placed top4 at champs while winning stage 2 in regionals. fnatic while getting 2nd twice did not win anything

That's too late though the year at least to me ends after champs I would keep it in mind for 2026 though
Nah my point is off season events don't matter, half the teams were burnt out from toronto some of the teams didn't even send their best rosters, BO1 in first matches of group stage. The only thing EWC has going for it is the prize pool, but it definitely is not close to a VCT event.

2023: Fnatic or EG (Lockin, Masters or Champions)

you can though.. team of the year means best performance throughout the year. prx were the best team in the world at toronto and were below fnatic for the remainder of the year. t1 and g2 were both worse than fnatic for the majority of the year. the only team that consistently stayed at the top and outperformed previous international winners was fnatic. hence fnatic was the best team of the year
And Fnatic was not the best team in the world at any point, there is no second place trophy
comparing H2H since both didnt make to Masters Bangkok:
Prx: won Masters (>lifted a trophy, best team in the world<), Top 4 at Champions (decent placement)
Fnatic: Directly lost a Masters trophy to PRX, 2nd place at Champions (there isnt any 2nd place trophies, not even silver medals)
yeah, that's why the question isn't who won the most trophies or who was the best at a certain point in time. the question was throughout the year. fnatic beats prx, g2, t1 and th at champs and you know it. they were consistently better. prx won an event then were consistently below fnatic.
The team of the year needs to win something, there is only 3 tournaments in VCT, winning 1 of them is already a dream for every org
Being "consistently better" doesnt mean anything if you dont lift the trophy. Second place is as good as last according to the players themselves
I dont know of a single other esports or sport that had a trophyless team as the team of the year, so why we should make an exception for Fnatic lmao
