I’m curious, what would you guys list as your top 5 most valuable players right now. It’s important to consider not just mechanics but what they would bring to the team.
Pacific has been that competitive this season. To put it in perspective, GenG finished the same place in stage 2 as EG from Americas. Imagine if GenG was in Americas they would arguably be top 3. (Atleast for this season)
Having said that. I respect munchkin he brings a lot to the team but he is not in the same league as nAts f0rsaken Valyn. These (2) guys IGL’d and MVP’d stage 2 finals.
No duelist player should ever be on this list. Mine is:
F0rsaken
nAts
Valyn
Chronicle
Keiko
IGLs self-explanatory, high fragging ability with a great calling. F0rsaken highest because he's the most flexible, nAts above valyn because flair but idm if you put valyn first.
Chronicle below those 3 only because he's not an IGL, but he's probably the 2nd most flexible player in tier 1 (after f0rsaken)
Keiko is 100% bias because of my flair but idk there isn't really anybody else deserving of being put next to the other 4.
When we consider value a player brings their mechanics are pretty much secondary to their flexibility/calling (if IGL). Not to say mechanics don't matter but having extremely flexible players like chron/f0rsaken makes team-building so much easier and allows teammates to play comfort agents. For IGLing, idk if its just valorant but IGLs have tendency of underperforming so having a player who can perform whilst IGLing will probably give the team the edge on mechanics.
Nats
Valyn
Forsaken
Something
Meteor
Nats and Valyn being value as fragging IGL's outside of being good callers AND good individual leaders among their teams. When you look at G2 & TL, you can tell they run through the lenses of their respective IGL's.
Forskaen has innate value in versatility that you can't really match.
I'm a meteor fanboy, but the value he is able to get individually is insane. I think he (at his peak) wins his teams more rounds than any other player. He does the right stuff at the right times more often than anyone else imo (again, very subjective, but he was basically the entire reason Gen.G was able to play such an agressive recleae style since Meteor gets such high individual value).
Something is here since, yes, he has a lot of assistance from how Paper Rex plays, but he's also the best Yoru & Oper in VCT. If you were just one of those things, it could get you on a highest value list. The fact that he's not just elite, but arguably the peak of both speaks to the value he gets Paper Rex. Outside of Forsaken's versatility, I'd say that Something's absolue map presence is what lets Paper Rex play like Paper Rex.
this factual putting aside my bias d4v4i can flex and is a insane anchor and 2nd awper patmen can flex both intiator roles viper and kj also has high play time on raze so if he was on a non prx team he could be a insane 2nd entry whilst being nuts on clutches and good on lurks
and f0rsaken has the single highest value as player flexing to quite literally every role in the game including AC IGL
