Aspas hate example

A lot of people glaze Aspas by pointing to his VLR rating and saying he's been playing great. I think the NRG series is a prime example of why I and others criticize him.

Lotus: He starts off the game 10-0, including a couple seize-nade kills. Overall he's playing excellently at this point. Fast forward to the start of round 23, he's gone 8-13 over the last 17 rounds, saved in a 4v4 postplant, weirdly wasted 10-15 seconds in another postplant just to die anyways, died once to util while trying to entry, misplayed a postplant situation on attack (Xenom clutched it), gets picked off at the start of round 24, and overall had very little impact. In OT, round 25 he gets backstabbed (more a good play by skuba though), round 26 he gets a trade kill then no value (only partially his fault imo), round 27 gets a kill and has an opportunity for more but is traded instead, and finally round 28 was just unlucky and not his fault. His final stats were 23-19, but no time after round 5 did he actually play well, just anywhere from fine to poor, but he still ends up +4 so it looks like he played decently. He didn't do anything past round 5 to actually contribute to winning the map.

Bind: I would be cherry-picking not to include the map he played pretty well on. First 4 rounds just dies without doing much outside of a seize-nade kill. Rounds 5 and 6 he gets credit, good opening kills, then he cant do much for the next few. Round 10 another good round, but mostly an unforced error by Brawk. The second half he plays really well, not much more to say.

Across 4 halves of valorant: 1 excellent half, 2 okay halves, 1 horrible half. Final VLR rating: 1.27. People point to ratings like this and the +16 to say he was excellent but his team just sucked so they loss, when in reality he had little to no impact for 80% of Lotus and only a single excellent half in the series. ADHD version: Aspas had great rating despite only playing 1 great half. Didn't have as much impact as his stats suggest.

yea i think he struggles with game sense. cuz sometimes i see him play post plant scenarios pretty poorly

bruh yall hate on aspas as if every other duelist gets an ace every round they play and never do troll bullshit or get less fk than some teammate

went to check out the nrg lotus one: round 23 artzin and aspas enter site together; aspas holds smoke for advances while artzin takes space on site; aspas comes back to stick with artzin; artzin tries to rush s0m for no reason while blind and dies which is kind of hilarious; aspas "trades" him, get traded, and then everyone just dies. round 24 he dies instantly of an unlucky op shot that wasn't even supposed to be him (skuba saw verno first), round 25 skuba gets a timing on him, round 26 he holds secret, gets util dumped, trades xenom but get low hp because s0m is spamming odin, still keep holding secret but end up dying cause no one is watching heaven for him (verno is holding secret too for some reason) and then mada aces, round 27 hes literally trying to hold a 1v4 on A main but he sadly whiffed the first few shots (still takes one), round 28 the entire team gets outcalled on a block and surrounded on C main, everyone enters site and dont wait for the util (including his grenade that would dislocate brawk who ended up killing two on the same moment), he still waits for the paranoia and gets brawk, he gets another while xenom gets the spike, xenom leaves the spike to aspas so he can have ult and get one while NRG is entering site but gets traded, aspas ults, the ult somehow does not kill s0m (lol), and he dies on a 1v2 (he and xenom played really well and almost turned a 2v4 but he got unlucky with the ult)

before that, saving in a 4v4 and holding in post plant are igl calls. dying to util happens. what round did he misplay?

not saying hes perfect, there are a lot of times he played really badly (vs EG champs 23 lower finals bind gets to mind), but this feels like a misread of the context. not much you can do when your team gets outclassed and thats just what happened. also people usually use his rating to talk shit of him

i mean… i could cherry pick on any of kaajak, zekken, s3xture on this but it happens. Bad rounds happen.

Anyway unless you can do this for majority of his games then this is pretty useless because you can do this for any player, in fact most players have a drop off or increase in performance from one half to the next

sure buddy, he always play like dat hahaha, tbh i am a big fan of washedemon1, but this thing with aspas is just wild, bro was a beast in loud and people always said things like that, soloplayed on LEV, now MIBR was competitive untilt some months ago with pretty much a bunch of randoms, bro is always sharp, many years and always a menace and somehow we have to read a text like that, just say u don't like him, he doesn't care, but don't find some stupid things in one game to downgrade a person, we can do that with ANY player
