LEV vs NRG Prep

Sato said they had zero prep vs NRG because the format but ZERO prep seems insane considering how hard NRG anti'd them on map 1, wouldn't the HC be prepping stuff for the next map immediately after the win vs KRU? The comp they ran on Ascent was already anti'd by Liquid vs FNATIC and NRG used the same things to counter them, I'm surprised how caught off guard they were.

they had prep in their meeting room but he was late and the doorknob to enter was too tall for him to reach

I mean im sure the anti was literally just take what TL did for ascent, but for icebox they literally played that map last time and the only reason it wasnt a stomp that time was because sato was farming, where he wasnt yesterday

this team relies too heavily on him in heavy stakes games and he is too young and inexperienced for that type of pressure

Bonkar absolutely watched back that Liquid game. What I'm saying is, and Sliggy mentioned it as well, how did LEV not watch any of the footage of teams that played this comp and got hard anti'd because LEV was doing the same things FNATIC did. I agree but Okeanos has played well recently but it does feel like they live or die based on him popping off. But yeah I agree on the Icebox take.

okay but in fairness the way nrg anti'd was only partially on the same level as TL, with the mid and aggro pushes and fast crunches. nrg had their own way of playing around the defaults with odins, getting the op out very early, and messing up their timings with niche kayo and sova scans which I commend from both brawk and ethan for being innovative intiators.

it was just an outclassing, nothing more to say, and I hope they make the changes necessary to do better next year

I agree with you, but also I think TL already showed that the FNC Ascent comp had severe flaws and shouldn’t be played again. Maybe Lev thought that they had answers to the kinds of counters TL showed against FNC, but they very clearly did not.

I do agree it was an outclassing, but the biggest part to me though was B Main. The amount of times they'd flash B Main, Mada would dodge it, they'd rotate off thinking they created fake pressure, only for Mada to walk up and hold it with AWP, either getting a pick or holding all of B Main was crazy. They basically disregarded half the map the entire half because they assumed their fake pressure worked, which allowed NRG to do the mid or aggro pushes you mentioned.

Picking the same Ascent comp that got obliterated already by Liquid in the FNC game was basically guaranteeing they’d start 0-1.

I thought the icebox game looked like Lev didn’t have a comprehensive game plan. NRG also just played extremely well.
