performing horribly in split 2 and will make it over NRG/C9/100T/EG if they make 4th in playoffs even though they are tied in points. Sad system that only americas has

i mean it makes the most sense with the intention of champs points rewarding longevity across the season
but i don't like it because it fucks us over
propredicter [#2]from the looks of it i dont think any SA team will qualify for champs
unless kru go on a run it looks like at least one will
wdym only americas every region is the same format lol
hate all you want but MIBR did good early in kickoff and stage 1 and got the champs points
you’re saying that like ALL those teams didn’t get destroyed by MIBR in the Kickoff and Split 1 LMAOOOO
Whats sad? They got 3rd in kickoff, 2nd in stage 1 groups, 3rd in stage 1 playoffs.
They have done good for 2/3rd of the year regionally.
You really want to see NRG, top 10 in kickoff, 4th in stage 1 groups, and 8th in playoffs make it all because they are performing good for 1/3rd of the year? Goddamn
lambidadelta [#6]wdym only americas every region is the same format lol
hate all you want but MIBR did good early in kickoff and stage 1 and got the champs points
americas is the only region where the champs point h2h is resolved by h2h across the whole year
every other region resolves it with stage 2 placing
would it be different in other regions? IMO its better for AMERICAS as a whole to have 1 of the SA teams going to keep their scenes alive
cameran [#9]Whats sad? They got 3rd in kickoff, 2nd in stage 1 groups, 3rd in stage 1 playoffs.

i mean i do understand what hes saying you probably want the teams who are most in form at champs i think its just a flaw in the format personally lcq just works way better for this game.
shrike- [#5]unless kru go on a run it looks like at least one will
possibly, but very unlikely. sen takes first g2 takes second spot then 3rd and 4th is probably eg and nrg

i get that but NRG turning up for the most IMPORTANT event of the year is better than MIBR slumping in stage 2 for the same event
kyro1 [#12]I SPEAK FOR EVERYONE WHEN I SAY WE DO NOT WANT EG AT CHAMPS
please curse icy bro i would rather have mibr
propredicter [#14]possibly, but very unlikely. sen takes first g2 takes second spot then 3rd and 4th is probably eg and nrg
If that happens mibr are garantueed in, nrg and eg cant be fourth
I actually think it's the best system, and don't understand the hate for it.
The entire idea of Champs points and how they changed the system last year is to reward teams who have been consistent over the entirety of the year - not just Stage 2. MIBR have so many Champs points because they've been better than the other teams outside of Sen and G2 for 2/3 of the year.
Like what ya'll are actually saying is that these teams have been so uncompeititive all year that they can't even pass in points a team that didn't make playoffs. But I'm supposed to feel bad for them? They deserve to be sitting at home watching just as much as MIBR.
iluvpeng [#18]If that happens mibr are garantueed in, nrg and eg cant be fourth
youre right 4th place only get 3 points
if LEV is out, MIBR is also out cuz at least two of them will get 3 points, and tiebreaker goes to higher placing teams
shesh_ [#10]americas is the only region where the champs point h2h is resolved by h2h across the whole year

oh ok didn't know that
still, mibr deserved the points they got.
shesh_ [#10]americas is the only region where the champs point h2h is resolved by h2h across the whole year

But I still don't get this.
How does MIBR have the h2h advantage over NRG when it's 1-1?
Verstepping33 [#23]But I still don't get this.

mibr have +10 round differential
kyro1 [#13]i mean i do understand what hes saying you probably want the teams who are most in form at champs i think its just a flaw in the format personally lcq just works way better for this game.
Yeah sure LCQ will definitely help in this case. But I was still never a big fan of LCQ anyways. All the LCQ winners in 2023, who were supposedly supposed to be "in form" all never made champs playoffs.
Champ points helps reward that consistency, and if a team really was in form then surely they could definitely place top 2 (of course I gotta use the annoying narrative of "gotta beat the best to be the best" but its true lol)
Its definitely a small sample space and I obviously cant say for sure whether or not champ points would help but still lol
propredicter [#20]youre right 4th place only get 3 points
ya but that puts NRG on equal points to mibr right? so shouldnt NRG qualify cuz they did better in stage 2?
Pototo [#26]ya but that puts NRG on equal points to mibr right? so shouldnt NRG qualify cuz they did better in stage 2?
refer to #10 and #24
I mean MIBR is not that behind when you compare them against nrg/c9/100t
they beat 100t and NRG only won because Mada had a life game
catNmouse [#16]i get that but NRG turning up for the most IMPORTANT event of the year is better than MIBR slumping in stage 2 for the same event
Thats fair. But consistency throughout the year still matters and should still be the most incentivized
Though, like what I said above, I agree looking now LCQ can definitely help a team like NRG who look good right now
TheLoque [#21]if LEV is out, MIBR is also out cuz at least two of them will get 3 points, and tiebreaker goes to higher placing teams
now i see the problem, the tiebreaker.....
performing horribly in split 2
yeah because nrg, c9, 100t and EG are having a great year to be rewarded with the consistency-based classification system. lol

MIBR have 9 points bro, if EG/C9/NRG/100T make 4th they have the same points. Every other region's tiebreaker is placement in split 2, it makes no sense for MIBR to get this pity qualification.

well i think americas has the objectively correct tiebreaker considering the point of the points system
foythvlr [#33]well i think americas has the objectively correct tiebreaker considering the point of the points system
makes no sense bro. If they have the same points by the end of split 2 then the teams were equally as consistent. If you have to decide between two equally consistent teams it should be decided by current form

if they are equally consistent on results it makes sense that the tiebreaker is the consistency on h2h through the season since it is the primary tiebreaker on groups
edit: its actually the secondary but maps would prob go to mibr either way

Yeah man +10 rounds over NRG in the course of the year is a really good deciding factor. Definitely want a team that couldn't even make playoffs representing the region.

it is what it is. if NRG haven't had a terrible kickoff and stage 1 maybe they wouldn't be in this situation. just as mibr wouldn't be in this situation and be potentially eliminated if they had a single more win on stage 2
andrzx [#8]you’re saying that like ALL those teams didn’t get destroyed by MIBR in the Kickoff and Split 1 LMAOOOO
doesn't matter, they are horrendous. Never gonna beat the 2 team region allegations with MIBR going 0-2 with 14 rounds total in groupstage

Fair. Had to give fenis his make a wish season

of course it matters lol. im sure if MIBR had bounced back earlier they would’ve stomped every team in the Americas (except G2 and SEN). You’re ignoring most of the team’s year over one bad split, MIBR was consistently the third-best team in the region this year
no other team besides G2 and SEN deserves that spot more than them. NRG and 100T were trash the whole year
shrike- [#5]unless kru go on a run it looks like at least one will
kru is sa so no matter what there is one

I don't believe in them after their Toronto and stage 2 performance, would rather see another team have a shot. Aspas always fails masters 2 and makes a deep run at champs tho, maybe he'll do it again. Verno just can't be dropping Urango numbers
Can someone explain how the fuck do they make over NRG since NRG did finish better by getting 1st in their grp as well as they did recently win against mibr , don't tell they are considering overall h2h against NRG in which they are 2-1 against nrg
propredicter [#2]from the looks of it i dont think any SA team will qualify for champs
either kru or mibr have to make it
KClaw [#44]Can someone explain how the fuck do they make over NRG since NRG did finish better by getting 1st in their grp as well as they did recently win against mibr , don't tell they are considering overall h2h against NRG in which they are 2-1 against nrg
They are 1-1 against NRG this year but then when you breakdown the maps and rounds MIBR edges them out. It’s ridiculous to take a team to champs because they have +10 rounds over them. Every other region goes based on split 2 performance as a tie breaker r
