The qualifiers were stage 1 rankings and then online matches for the other two spots. I fail to see the mickey mouse. You have to give a reason for something like this no?
imo its about red bull homeground level, too much mickey mouse stuff
- it had separate qualifiers that overlapped with teams prepping for toronto
- 5 day tournament with 16 teams? either the format is shit or teams are playing multiple matches a day
- Theres only a few days break between EWC and stage 2 for some regions, again ruining prep for actual matches
- imo if it is not a VCT tourney it doesnt hold that "major" value
only thing that EWC has going on for it is the prize pool. its a hot topic but a prize pool doesnt mean anything for me as a viewer at all.

True ykw. I really wanted to see riot give ewc more respect than what theyve done here. Giving it a bit more time wouldve made it more hype. I have been a big proponent for having 4 major events in a vct calendar year. Ik with all the costs riot could really only afford to do 3 (they used to have 4 but changed it in 2022). Fix up the calendar a bit more and EWC could become more like a third masters event for the year

Yeah but at least everyone was invited what's the point in qualifiers if:
- They're inconsistent across regions
- They're online qualifiers for teams that are already more or less already gathered in 1 country I refuse to believe they couldn't have held a lan for these

i believe ewc plans weren’t finalized until after the schedule for this year was made, so they didn’t plan for a sizeable gap in the year for it.
but since it’s already locked in for the next two years, it will probably have better scheduling

They cant stream the games because emea was going on. Vct has a rule that all Valorant competitive streams are banned during official vct matches or something like this. And if you cant have an official stream why waste money for a lan for the games

I agree with the second point, but for the rest:
1) the top 2 teams from each region auto qualified which already makes it equal to kickoff in that aspect
3) irrelevant, what does its impact on the following tournament have to do with its value?
4) this would make sense if the teams weren't trying their best but we can be sure they will, if only for the prize money
