When sinatraa's allegations came out, they didn't feel the need to use slow mode. Everyone could say whatever they wanted. About six months ago, when sinatraa made a post clearing his stance about that incident, and even pointed out that the riot employee who investigated his case was extremely biased, r/valcomp mods turned off its comments saying "this doesn't add anything new to the case" (wtf???)

But, now flor does unimaginable shits, and they feel the need to moderate every comment. Absolute hypocrites.

vlr mods remove any talk of ewc unless its biased against it, they removed any talk of sinatraa unless its against him, they probably arent online to remove the flor threads, but i saw a few get purged already

Bro said "r/" and expected an unbiased environment.

VLR is a lot better than reddit. Even though mods can also be biased, it's nowhere close to the silencing experienced on Reddit.

How come they turn off comments to the post where sinatraa clearly showed that the person who was investigating his case was biased from the beginning (with evidence)? How is that not "something new to the case"?

no im not saying she deserves to be shielded, im saying that she (now unfortunately) represents the trans community, im guessing the moderation is applied to people that go after her identity and not her horrendous actions

Yo, I meant to follow up with this a few weeks ago, but couldn't find the thread. Sorry for the late response.

Slow Mode was invented a year after the allegations against Sinatraa. So mods couldn't use slow mode then because it didn't exist yet.

Since then, mods always put challenging topics like this in slow mode. Threads like these get tons of comments and are extremely hard to moderate. The subject matter also weighs on us heavily. (Some of us are SA survivors.)

I spent 3 days moderating Reddit comments on the Sinatraa situation, and only got 4 hours of sleep in total. It never stopped; it was brutal. (After a week I had to ask people to please stop making threads because we really needed a break.)

Slow Mode now at least gives us a chance to catch our breath. It make the situation easier to moderate by slowing down the rate at which users interact. This allows us watch discussion more closely & remove any harmful messages or stop arguements that devolve into attacking the other person. I'm sorry it's a pain in the ass, but I hope you'll understand that it helps us keep our sanity intact. 🙏
