it is safe to assume that the top vct teams this year are weaker than last year

That's an outrageous jump to make lmao. These teams are clearly better, minus EDG.

The top 4 teams from last year were EG, PRX, FNC, and LOUD. PRX and LOUD directly downgraded their roster, EG exploded, and FNC are nowhere to be seen. I think it's fair to say the field is weaker right now

It's the beginning of the year. Every champs has a stronger field of teams compared to the first event of the next year. So, compare Lockin to this. Masters.

I agree that teams will improve as the year goes on, but the original commenter said "these teams are clearly better" than last year's, which I don't think is accurate.

your right its not accurate
its a new meta and new map pool with new rosters
how do you expect everyone to be at their best

also OP is already trying to devalue prx win if it happens which is also messed up

Yeah, but SEN, GEN.G, KC, and TH made massive improvements. The is probably the most competitive it's been, which has less to with teams getting worse, and more so with teams getting better.

PRX and LOUD with direct downgrades are still top 4 rn, so yea lol. Don't think anyone can argue that this year's LOUD is stronger without aspas, or PRX being stronger without Jinggg, or SEN being stronger than champs EG.

Yeah to me it's clear that teams like Fnatic and NRG (maybe even lev) will be the main contenders for the next international events

NRG might get Rekt imo
But Fnatic definitely

Nah they had very suboptimal practice time and they almost 2-0'd Sentinels already

thats such a crazy discredit for PRX. its just show how their effort is massive to turning anybody's expectations

i agree with that, but unless prx 13-0 every map, i don’t see an argument being made that prx without jing is stronger that last year prx

So many new players this event ofc prx have an edge based on international experience alone, like maybe you could argue rn is a step down from champs in terms of team quality but compared to lock-in it’s so far ahead and by the end of the year quality of play will be far higher

The first event of the year is usually always weaker when compared to later events. Compare Madrid to Lock in and youll see that the overall ability is pretty much the same, if not a little higher. Compare it with champs and yea its weaker.

lock in was a joke. u cant use it as comparison single elim is horrible system to set the standard. even tho the drawing is kinda questionable. madrid is definitely way better than previous years first tournament

Lock in had a bad format, but it is still the only event similar to Madrid. You can do the regionals and it would still be weaker. But Tokyo would be too far ahead, thats mid season, so unless you really want to cherry pick to make a statement, only Lock in works.

This event has been very heavily impacted by the inexperience of the teams present imo, not making excuses for EMEA, but let's be honest, not a single player from those teams, apart from Magnum have ever played an international event, GENG same thing apart from Lakia, so even though it is the best teams representing each region, you have to take other things in to account

It can be argued that the two best regions didn’t send their best team.
