Sentinels (the role not the team)

I might be missing something but didn't everyone consider sentinels to just be op in general, with the massive cypher buffs, kj always being stupid broken with no major nerfs and deadlock and chamber getting buffed (still both shit tho) but there is much less sentinel play and on like split where cypher or chamber was considered a must pick before buffs some teams are running no sentinel?

because after 16 nerfs viper ( a controller) is still the best sentinel in the game

because we are currently living the meta of taking off enemy's info

cypher was alright before and kj was really strong, but now kj turrent having less vision and cypher trips being reset until destroyed, cypher is by far the better sentinel to hold a site, but in small site maps like ascent, the lockdown is too good to give up. Overall, cypher IS somewhat broken, his only counters are kayo and yoru, or else you need a sova to break them, and this is also partly why yoru is being used so much

Viper does better at holding a site than any sentinel. Its not even close.

Only 1 where it feels needed is 3 site maps like Lotus and haven. Ascent also bc that map is hell

Ppl know the flank timings so much better than before

Sentinels have passive info util but they arent really necessary on most maps if you know what you are doing. Sure they can defend a site really well but there are other agents like viper, omen, astra, raze etc. (especially viper) that can delay for enough time on defense for your team to rotate

And on attack other than holding flank (which isnt necessary to begin with) they dont really have util to help your team take space like an extra initator, or viper would

With the pick rate viper has she is for sure getting a big nerf this year
