If you have any questions about Brazil, feel free to ask me. It can be as ridiculous as you want, as long as you're not being over the top.

At big cities It is, people saying it is not are delusional or they don't know what is to live at a decently safe place. In Brazil, you would not walk 4 blocks leaving a restaurant at midnight to your house, all houses are surrounded by big walls and eletric fences are comum, and you are always worried to pull your cellphone when at the streets. It is not safe at all.

Is a combination of two things:

Most BR came from LAN houses and cyber cafes back in the day and involved playing video games + the passion for sports (volley, football, fights, swimming, and a lot more) made esports big in BR.

#43

Games in general have always been very popular in Brazil, so in esports we just take the competitiveness we already had from football and we adapted it for virtual competitions. and fortunately this is increasing more and more here in Brazil

1) I read somewhere last year that you guys are still cutting down the rainforest. What do Brazilians think about that?

2) What cities do i completely avoid if I’m a tourist / anything to be careful of for tourists in general?

Love Brazilians, I will definitely visit one day bc I wanna see the rainforest and also a dream of mine to play in a pickup game with the country that is responsible for producing ronaldinho.

#58

1 - Last year deforestation increased cause of the regulations made by the ex-president (not going to talk about politics here). This year (I saw somewhere) it decreased almost 40% already. Most BRs don't like that.
2 - Not cities but places, any city like anywhere in the world has dangerous places. USA, Korea, Japan, China, it doesn't matter where.

Love you too <3

The best advice I can give you is: despite it being a beautiful state, don't go to Rio de Janeiro. and don't go to the capital of São Paulo, there are a lot of robberies there. I recommend going to the southern region of Brazil or visiting the beaches in the northeast region

#63
Schizophrenic_Brazil_Fan
0
Frags
+

We aren’t cutting it down. We have a problem with illegal deforestation (which is why the military takes care of the Amazon), during the Bolsonaro run we actually got rid of a lot of the criminals responsible for the deforestation since Bolsonaro has a strong tie to the military. Unfortunately Lula has his eyes on other stuff and kind of neglected the forest again (the rate went up, to the number it was when he ruled).

You wanna avoid São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, or atleast stay only one day there.
Good cities to visit are
Gramado
Balneário Camboriú
Ouro Preto
Curitiba
Foz do Iguaçu
Bombinhas
Santos

#71
brdreamer
0
Frags
+

You kinda inverted things, as with Bolsonaro the deforestation increased and BR even appeared in a lot of international news about that, this year it decreased by almost 40%. I don't care about Bolsonaro or Lula, just saying what the news is telling and not from a politic perspective.

#76
Schizophrenic_Brazil_Fan
0
Frags
+

Really? But I could’ve sworn there was a bigger military presence around there during the Bolsonaro turn?
How reliable are those stats? Cuz they could be using the pandemic to increase the stats since most of the focus was shifted to health and not deforestation.

Either way, thank you for the links, I will dive deeper in to this topic by myself.
Thankfully we all agree deforestation is bad

#81
brdreamer
0
Frags

Really? But I could’ve sworn there was a bigger military presence around there during the Bolsonaro turn.

It was kind of loose, to be honest, he was more "relaxed" with that, and that is was there was an increase in deforestation.

You can search for "desmatamento amazonia" and look at more sources. It's always good to look for more than one source.

Yes, Amazonia is considered the lungs of the world and we must take care of that. 30% os the world's oxygen is here. Without the Amazon, the climate changes would be INSANE. The amount of different species of animals that exist here as well.

#84
ronaldinhoooooooooooo
2
Frags
+

Dammmm, vlr teaching me more than school. 30% of the worlds oxygen is insane but it makes total sense when you think about it since it fucking massive. Also didn’t know it was protected by the military (schizo br fan mentioned). Bro you guys can literally hold the world hostage if you wanted 🤣🤣 no need for nukes at all. I wonder if BR gets funding from other countries to protect the rainforest since its value is insane to the earth, I’m boutta do a whole research session on this stuff.

#88
Marhuee

#89

BR already does get funded by other countries. I think this year alone billions of $$ was injected to protect the Amazon.
BR is huge as I mentioned before here in this thread, the Amazon is so far from me that I'm closer to Europe in terms of distance than to the Amazon for you to have an idea. BR has 4 different timezones, it's just insane. BR can fit the entire European continent (without the Russian part) inside of Brazil's territory.
