was lurking c9 runi stream a couple days ago and he said Riot is about to make changes for next year including introducing a salary cap for players so that richer orgs dont just poach players from regions like Brazil

The league minimum is 5.5k USD per month right now and it seems this is what runi and jakee were getting paid cause he said some players (who he beat) were making 10x his salary.. (sounded a bit salty here)

also no roster changes for next 2 months which is when riot is expected to announce the changes but it seems runi is not scrimming with c9, niether is zellsis

crazy to think some players in NA are getting paid 50k per month and they dont even qualify for masters or champs

runi is obviously talking about 100T. SEN looks bankrupt rn and so does c9, but 100T makes huge money from sponsors and merch to be able to pay each player up to 600k annually (which is INSANE when you say it like that)

Where on earth are you getting these numbers from LOL, also 100T has had very little sponsor support the last two years. Which is why they are cutting costs so heavily and felt the need to start their own energy drink company to compensate lmao

100t is owned by drake and dan gilbert (billionaire NBA team owner)... so its not just nadeshot

no one is saying nadeshot is the sole owner..? And instead of explaining where you got “600k per player”, you just stated a single VC owner and drake who invested in series a funding in 2018 lol. Having investors doesn’t mean you have infinite money coming into your business. Those investors have nothing to do with the lack of sponsorship money 100T, and all of esports has been getting recently.

So where is your source for these salaries?

seriously? no cap?

If true are orgs just run by delusional people? how is it okay to sign players with that salary and expect to run a functional company? I bet runi was exaggerating but still, I don't think he is far off the truth.

it was pretty common knowledge high profile pros were making 20k a month at the least before franchising, now imagine what the biggest name in all of valorant made

there is no way they are spending nearly there whole stipend on one player I don't believe that's an insane amount of money especially for an industry that isn't even established enough or shown any sign of a player being worth that much

i feel like you're assuming these teams expect to be profitable

most big esports orgs are just bankrolled by rich idiots who will never see a return on investment

Riot doesnt have the authority to make a salary cap, without a union from the players.
