Quick heads up incase u didnt know alr everything is reliant on WeChat/WeiXin. As someone who recently came back it's shocking. The night markets are also usually pretty good spots to eat, the meat skewers are sometimes a bit sketchy but theyre pretty good. Also any local restaurant should be good, just ask around and ask what the provinces specialty is and try that first.

it's because a decent amount of chinese characters share same letters pinyin (with different accents though), it just chooses the most common used character

I've heard of stores mixing their meat with cardboard and adding msg to cover it up (very rare obviously)
