feel like I’ve made this thread a million times, but again pointing out vlr is brainwashed into thinking igls are gigabrains that can sacrifice mechanics for brain

https://twitter.com/leaf_cs/status/1671717542593806339?s=46&t=ye-gy75tUSKJJoHBMWyM7g

teams pracc, then repeat those plays in game. mid rounding requires some on-the-fly thinking but the whole team is helping in that (calling rotates, lurking, etc)

to be fair it's kinda crazy that fns' world class igling was stomped by a bunch of anime aimers (all these words are used by optic/nrg/fns lovers and prx haters, not my words)

True, thats why fns is overrated. Stop making excuses for his potato aim. Player like boaster can frag like monster and can call as well

See, this is coming off of a team that has played their game and won 8 out of their 9 regular season matches:

They always said this in their post game recaps that we don’t really want to counter the opponents plan because teams can adapt to our counter plan and counter it fairly well mid-game itself, so they stick to what they want to do as a team and keep executing the same strat to perfect their own game.

Really good👍

this just tells me that you've never IGLd on any level in your life.
when you are the IGL, you are the team's brain. you have to pay extra attention to the minimap. you have to take in the information from all four of your teammates and use it to create a coherent mental map of what's happening, how the round is playing out, what your goal should be and how you should achieve it. you have to be ready to make quick adjustments based on new information and changes in the state of the game, you have to communicate your calls to your teammates well enough to get everyone to follow a plan on the fly or make sure that they can be in position for a set play. at a certain point, your aim becomes your secondary focus and you can't shoot the same as your star player can. it absolutely impacts your mechanics.

#25

the question is can you shoot the same as diamond players?

if FNS was in one of your diamond lobbies you would report him for aimbot my dude

I'm not saying I'm an expert in the matter, but considering every international event (Beside Reykjavik 2021 with Shazam) has been won by a team with an igl that barely frags, I think brain > aim when it comes to igling. Redgar (I guess he fragged a bit more when he was with Gambit, but still), Bonecold, Finesse, Ange1, Saadhak (That guy doesnt frag, not sure why some people think he does). Even Boaster, who also some people talk about him like he is a fragging igl really doesnt frag much more then a guy like finesse.

Sen def had better strats in reykjavik than the other teams. why discredit? also, you will see a shift as more teams realize that it is extremely stupid to have an igl with diamond mechanics instead of 5 elite players. they don't have to compromise with all the talent there is

#33
Sinnnis

Not sure how I discredited Sen, all I said was that it was the only time that a team won with an actual fragging igl.

But yeah, I mean I guess we will see, but history doesnt seem to be on your side.

oops misunderstood. but yes we will see. eg c9 maybe prx maybe tl all look like they're improving fast and start the new wave

Read further down in the thread.

Imo I've always considered punishing those individual tendencies as a form of counterstratting.

"Oh, Zmjjkk likes to push out of a main the moment he x and x are revealed on b site? Practice your a main holds against an awper for punishing that if it comes about next game"

Its never been about knowing exactly what the other team is going to do (unless you're playing Leviatan) or you know that a team hasn't changed a certain strategy for months and you practice countering it.

Say stax calls for a retake on B fracture, if you know that they're prone to doing 1 of 3 different retakes that they've been doing for so long then counterstratting means preparing your team for each of those retakes and being prone to punishing them.

An IGL isn't a mastermind that knows what's happening at all times in the game, their job is to be the primary focus of macro in the game and to keep their team grounded. Every player has to focus on whats in front of them and they can't be looking at the map all the time, they may get too focused on an engagement and get too deep into an engagement.

The igl is the one thats supposed to hold others back when they need to, and be the primary caller of midrounds and anti protocols when the enemy team is in a position to do something that they prepared for (like a retake, take, etc.)

They're the glue of the team

exactly. a central voice. not a gigabrain that invents all strats and calls every play. it is a team effort

#42

theres also a coach that can come into inventing strats
