I realized I might be developing schizophrenia before full-blown psychosis. I'd had cognitive issues for 2-3 years, and negative symptoms had been ramping up for a year or more, and then I started getting spurts of what looked like early signs of delusions, hallucinations, thought disorder, etc., and some other stuff I knew was common in the later stages of the prodrome (happened to have done a very thorough research paper on schizophrenia in high school, so I knew which symptoms often showed up at that point).

Turned out I was right, but it took two years and three episodes to get a psych to take me seriously and give a diagnosis.
