yea he will improve USA and eventually the us will own football and name it soccer. It is our 6th most popular sport for a reason. But I understand football is all you have and your very sensitive on this topic its okay. We will treat messi good for you

I wouldn't be proud of being 6th most popular sport, I can't even name 6 sports that are popular at all in the UK. Idk if it's different in the US though.

It is no longer the 6th most popular sport in US, it is the 4th now (and the fastest growing one) https://www.wolfgangsport.com/most-popular-sports-in-america/

you live in the past

ok well when its in the top 2 we would dominate it

The lack of relegation/promotion system will unfortunately result in the US not becoming dominant on the world stage, or compared to other confederations, but in the next 50-60 years U.S. (and NA overall) will probably catch-up with the rest of the world and have football(soccer) as the most popular sport, it's somewhat inevitable

Money

They were a small club before they got that oil money. After that they bought all the elite players, unlimited funds. They pumped the club full of money with fake sponsors and made a mockery of FFP (financial fair play)

Ahhh I see that sounds pretty fucked up

Traditional clubs cannot compete with unlimited funds. Only a select few (top 5 biggest clubs itw) can and even then, barely

they spend a lot of money, but its not like other clubs like man u, arsenal, real aren't doing the same

Like i said before. Its money generated on their own. Not oil money pumped through illegal fake sponsors like City

they are just haters lmao tons of other teams get oil money and no one cares but as soon as city do its a big deal. they act like we dont have history just cuz they dont know our history

fr like i get city spend a lot of money but i think chelsea this season shows there's smart ways to spend money and city has spent money very good. same with psg, they have tons of money but have spent it poorly

MAN UNITED have been spending just as much money, this is just dumb elitism. Chelsea literally spent 600 mil and were still struggling mid table .

It is money generated by decades of tradition and winning trophies. Totally different. Same with Real Madrid, Bayern, Barca etc

Real Madrid is the greatest sporting institution to exist. Alot of the Franco bs isn't even true. I've been watching football my whole life meanwhile you've watched it for max 5-6 years

Love when offside rules used to be non existent in UCL knockout stages for the greatest sporting institution.

You're just literally coping. Manchester City will never be even close to Real Madrid as they're just a dirty oil club with no history or fans.

Man come on. Yes there have been cases of Madrid receiving favoritism especially in la Liga but there is no denying they are the greatest club of all time. U don't win 14 ucls, double the amt of the next closest club just coz u had scored a few offside goals. I don't even support madrid but gotta give credit where credit is due

He's talking about the Bayern game that went to OT and Ronaldo scored an offside goal off of Marcelos pass. The thing that casuals always forget is that Lewandowski actually scored an offside goal to take it to OT

i am not denying that they are one of the biggest clubs in footballing history... just pointing out this weird comparison. like city won fair and square today, why even undermine it when most elite clubs including Madrid spend huge amounts of money these days.

Not gonna argue with that

oh please. dont tell me winning trophies decades ago were generating generational wealth to casually spend 100 mil on fucking Antony. You literally get just 20 mil for winning UCL in today's era of football.

Wait so how do clubs pay their players millions for every game if the prize pool for leagues are low? Does the money come from betting as well? I always thought that was how it worked.

If you look far enough in history, Man City is not a small club. It just had a bad time between the 80s and early 2000s. I don't think you know as much about football as you're trying to portray. And no, I'm not denying that sheik money is what propelled them, but lets be serious, that's not the only reason. The Mansour family took over more than a decade ago, and until they got a proper world class manager that managed to build a quality and balanced team, they couldn't even smell the UCL trophy. (eg: PSG has yet to win it, and they invested a relative equal amount)
