Before I get hate, this isn't a shit posting thread. I'm looking for someone to explain these stats.

In VCT SA the average VLR.GG Rating for an Import is 1.05 which puts them in 21st. (if you compared this rating to all player ratings)
The average rating for a local player is 0.967 which puts them 31st.

This means that Indians are on average performing worse than International players are in their own league.
And the data get even more fucked when you only include the top teams (VLT, GDR, OG, AA, RGE)

When we only include the top 5 performing Teams in the league (listed above) The average rating for an Import becomes 1.2 which puts them 9th
The average rating for a local player becomes 1.08 Putting them on in 15th place compared to all players in the tournament.

Now obviously the data above is skewed because we're only taking data from 25 players from a tournament with 54 players so if we put these stats on a percentline it'll look like this:

All players in tournament;
INTERNATIONAL:

The average position for a player in this sample (International Imports) is on the 40th percentile

REGIONAL:

The average position for a player in this sample (South Asian players) in on the 57th percentile

Topt 5 teams in tournament:
INTERNATIONAL:

The average position for a player in this sample (International import in the top 5 teams) is on the 37th percentile

REGIONAL:

The average position for a player in this sample (South Asian players in the top 5 teams) is on the 63rd percentile

This data is pretty scary for the future of VALORANT in South Asia and the "Imports are naturally better" argument need not apply because the average rating of an import is an average of 5 placed ahead (in a percentile) than regional players.

Let's assume position is really supposed to be rating - then this would imply an average top 5 South Asian player has a better rating than 63% of the population (which isn't clear either) while a top 5 international player has a better rating than 37% of the population. That would mean the average South Asian player is performing better than the average international player according to the usual way the term "percentile" is used (which imo isn't even required in this analysis, just compare the average ratings!)

And besides, none of this really even matters when you actually put it into context - you'd only ever want to import a player if they already exceed the average population's skill. Naturally, you would then expect imported players to perform better than the region's players - if they didn't it would indicate that the teams have been choosing bad imports.

If you knew how to read it says "only the top teams" which means the prior statement was including all 12 teams. The data in the paragraph you are refering to only includes data involving the top teams in the tournament. Which were decided by me speaking to Journalists and word of mouth.

even though percentile doesn't have a clear definition when you say you are placed on a percentile that means out of 100 your are this rank. This is used in schools in the form of grading. When you take a math test with 45 marks and you get 23 marks your percentile placement is determined by this formula:

(N/D)100 = %
= (23/45)
= 0.51111111111 x 100
= 51.1...

This means you are put on the 51st percentile. When you use your brain you realise that being on the 63rd percentile is worse than being on the 30th percentile. Percentile and Percent are VERY different things.

I stated that the average differential between a local players percentile and an imported players percentile is ~5. The differential here is more than double that (~11) which states a HUGE difference. and that data isn't excluding the bottom teams. This entire paragraph proved you didn't read my text.

Let the 37th percentile be a rating of k_1. and the 63th percentile be a rating of k_2.

k_1 then corresponds a cumulative frequency of 37% while k_2 corresponds to a cumulative frequency of 63%. I.e. starting from an average rating of zero, summing the frequencies of each rating until k_1 results in 37% while doing the same for k_2 results in 63%. Evidently, k_2 > k_1.

And I legit said that the skewing of data in favor of international players is more than double that of the average for imports

For the top 5 players, an international player has a 10% better rating than a regional player. I think that's very acceptable considering it's maybe been 2 months since the league started.

To be clear, I respect the effort you put into the post I just think it's somewhat difficult to understand as it's currently worded.

I'm an Indian and I agree that India is lagging behind. Here are the reason because which I think this is :

Indian parents in general are very strict they barely allow kids to play videogames.
Most have very bad PC specs, majority of people play in 60-80 fps.
Indian player base is very toxic.
