I will be honest, monitor refresh rate has probably the smallest effect on u compared to like skill.

It is very small difference, there is people who are like immortal/radiant with 60hz and bad fps (obviously its harder than if like 120hz with good fps) but refresh rate doesn’t have that much effect

I have seen my vods of dying ... most of the time I die because of more reaction time... my crosshair placement is perfect and when i keep crosshair a bit far then I DIE!!!

well I am saying that having a higher refresh rate is really important. It makes you react faster, track better, and more precise. Especially when coming from 60 or 75 to 144+. I did a 60 to 165 and went from gold to diamond (before ascendant came out)

If I will ever buy one... then i will probabily jump to 240 or 360 hz... cz buying a 144hz wouldnt make sense then

75 to 144 is still insane im pretty sure there are a lot of high immortal players who play on 144 hz including ppl i know personally

yea if u buy one go for 240, i wouldnt recommend a 360 because it gets a lot of backlash and most consider it unnecessary, but i got a 165 cause it was really cheap

60-144 is a big difference. But 144-240 not so much. People have this misconception that getting a better monitor will make you better. When I got my new monitor, I didn’t get better, just everything was smoother. I’d get a new mouse over monitor imo.

This guy is making a lot of excuses for him losing gun fights.

Ur monitor still makes a difference regardless, especially at lower refresh rates where even 10-20 fps drops can feel like night and day , cause think of it this way , if ur hand decides to act like 10 or 20 ms slower than u want , ur life will be a lot more difficult

#72
Larry

I’m just saying though that the monitor isn’t the reason you are bad or not lol. It’s certainly possible to get high ranks with a 60hz. I’ve done it, there are other people who have done it as well. It does make a difference, I said 60-144 is huge. If you can’t afford 144, 120 is the exact same as 144 when I was messing around with different hz. I have a 165 personally but I’ve used 240 and haven’t really noticed the difference between the two.

it limits your peak, but you can still get a high rank with 60hz. i got imm3 for the first time with 60hz and my peak with 240hz is only around 300rr. not that much of a diff

I believe so, I peaked at D2/D3 with 144hz. Decided to buy 240hz start of this year and I can clearly see myself winning a lot of duels which I normally wouldn't. Currently peeked at Immortal 2. Imo, it is very subjective, some people barely see the difference between 144 and 240, whereas I could see a significant difference, but I'm sure your gameplay will improve if you go for 144hz.

He said it himself that HE can see the difference. I believe different people have different capabilities, and OP should look to that as well. I have upgraded from 60hz all the way to 280hz (cuz i can) so I cant have a direct say on it but i do believe on what I just said before.

I’m ascendant 3 with 75 hz, don’t make excuses for yourself. I hit plat 2 on 40 fps, and when I got a new pc I shot up to d3. Better hardware can help but it won’t be the main reason you are losing. There are immo players with 60 hz monitors, I think even some radiants play on 60 hz.

#23

As I Said Before... I have seen my VODS of dying... and literally all of them were bcz of my late reaction and I have been playing this game from 2020 , I always clip the scene where I wanna know how I died ... not making excuses though ... i just wanna know how i can improve .. somethings are capped bcz of ones hardware but there are many things which could be done to improve and i wanna know those few things

#26

Homie you can't blame it all on the monitor people have reached radiant on 60 hz it comes down to skill in the end sure it does help when u have a 240 hz and especially when u jump from 60 hz but if u dont have the mechanical prowess to back that up then there is no point

if you’re constantly losing duels that you think are as simple as reaction time it means your angles and positioning is just bad

peekers advantage wont go away just because you up your monitor hz, learn to use off angles

I hit A+ back in 2017-2018 with 60hz which is objectively harder to hit than immortal from my experience. 60-144 is a big difference I won’t lie. But 60hz isn’t impossible to be good at the game or not win gun fights/have good aim. It’s just become an excuse. Improve your reaction time if it’s an issue.

Just play a role and a style that doesnt rely on 1v1 gunfights and you can still make immortal. Positioning/crosshair placement > Pure aim mechanics

you can definitely make immortal/radiant with a bad monitor, many people have done it. But getting 144hz is a huge upgrade and will make it alot easier, plus ive enjoyed playing with higher fps alot more

#28

Frags

Saying you're losing because of your monitor's refresh rate is pure cope, it's just your reaction time that is bad by what you're describing. Best way to improve is to stick to one role (seen in another comment that you say you flex which is the worst thing for trying to rank up). If you're losing proper gunfights - play like a rat, practice your aim or become a bigger brain player than you are right now.

I played 60Hz until I hit immortal a couple of acts ago and now I play 144Hz in the exact same rank. It had little to no effect on the way I play except I feel like my game is smoother and easier on my eyes

Hit A+ on esea back in 2017-2018 with a 60hz monitor. When I got a 144hz, don’t know if I necessarily got better. There is a difference no doubt, but aim wise my aim was still as good as before. It’s just the game was a lot smoother. I think you’re just scapegoating your monitor for you losing gun fights. Besides, Valorant isn’t very demanding on pure gun skill. Learn how to play around and predict abilities more and you’ll rank up.

60hz (Since 2020) - Silver - Gold 2
144hz (last 2 months) - Platinum 3

I think it also has to do with fps upgrade from 0-60 fps to near constant 144 fps. I do that refresh rate helps.

After my journey to a different country and transitioning from PC to laptop. I confirmed the Hz doesn't matter to me but the size of the monitor does. When I was in Singapore I don't have a gaming laptop so I borrowed my friend's second pc and monitor to play. He lends me a 60hz 24inch monitor with a 1650&2600x pc. I managed to reach immortal 1 on sg server with that setup he lend me, yet when I moved back to my main setup back in my home country which is a 24inch 240hz monitor and 3700x 2070 pc I'm still a hard stuck immoral. Fast forward a couple of months, moved to Melbourne and since I can't bring my pc with me I bought a gaming laptop with a 144hz 15.3-inch monitor and a 11800h 3060 spec. Went down to asc the first month. Bought a cheap second-hand 60hz 24-inch monitor and went back to immortal the next week. FYI my peripheral is still the same on all 3 setups and that is an apex 7 keyboard and a rival 650. The only difference with my peripheral is my mouse switch since I changed them after it kept double-clicking.

You should not have a mindset that you are being held back by your pc specs.. Ik atleast 10 ppl who reached immo 1 on 60/75 hz, and from my experience the only problem I had on a 60hz setup were frame drops.. Obviously it is possible that you have different skill ceiling but i still think that with practice you can reach atleast asc/imm. To be fair, I hit Radiant 3 times early on when I was playing on 60Hz, so it's not impossible, but it is for sure way harder to play on lower hz monitors compared to higher hz ones, so if you get one in the future you will feel better instantly and maybe get a rank or two up.

DM doesn't mean a thing lil bro, by the sound of it, you're getting way too horny and taking fights you shouldn't or have bad positioning. Could be caused by being over confident after 1 or 2 games, and hence decision making gets worse.
