The viewership declined significantly in comparison to past events.
In addition, when compared to Counter-Strike.

All the artificial hype around the game is slowly fading away ;(

the most popular regions after NA and EMEA were both knocked out in groups, it's somewhat expected.

I think there's still going to be a lot of people watching when there's a crowd, though.

edit: tbh I think JP and BR are both more popular than EMEA

Valve not doing anything for decades because it had no real competition in the tactical fps market. A company like riot making valorant is when they should actually update and work on the game. You seriously can't see how cs been declining as a game compared to the other fps nowadays? Its so much harder for a new player to get into cs , heck you can't even properly play without encountering cheaters unless you use faceit.

How is CS possibly declining? The viewership has gone up. The game is more popular than ever. It hit its peak player count in 2020, 8 years after its release. Game has twice the player base of Valorant. Either you are that detached or just off the goop.

The cheating problem in CS is heavily over exaggerated. I get there are cheaters but it’s seriously not that bad. Every game has cheaters.

The thing Valorant has on CS is how dumb downed the game is for the casual. That Is how it attracts new players as majority of the player base came from fortnite, league, apex, or Val is their first fps. If I was new to the fps games I would for sure play val over CS just because how noob friendly it is.

Just looking at the stats, average viewership for Masters 2 is better than the current CSGO going on right now. Group stage matches got more viewers than most of the playoff games for the CSGO thing. Only 2 games that are ahead of the Masters 2 average is the semifinals and Grand Finals. Reminders, 2 year old game vs former face of Esports and a 200,000$ prize vs a 1,000,000$ prize.

Agreed, although a lot of the playerbase for Val Came from games like apex, Fortnite, league, etc. The whole concept of the game was already established and based off CS. You can say it’s copied but there are some differences. But it’s not like Valorant was a fresh new idea. Its whole idea came from already established and successful games.

I remember when the game first came out it was being memed on as “Tom Clancy’s League of Overwatch Global Offensive.” Lol

He become the main stream because he got the monopoly of the official streams, alot of casters from valorant br now was from the official cs streams, gaules just created a monopoly so huge that people prefer him to watch the games because of his community and his history with cs since 1.6

I have no doubts he’s been popular for awhile. I’m just saying he is the official Portuguese stream and has been for as long as I remember. You said he is a watch party which is wrong.

Well it’s a moba and Asian countries love mobas. Dota is massive in China as well. I know the Koreans really love league specifically as well.

I’m just saying in general though that CS has a massive following in China.

not at all

Never seen an official stream that theres no casters just people commenting and talking to chat and friends in the call, its more easy to say he is both no?

No one is salty. I enjoy both Cs and Valorant but your takes are beyond bad lol. I get there are Csgo fanboys out there but don’t forget how many Valorant fanboys there are who are just as bad. These games shouldn’t even be compared but considering how Valorant was marketed as the csgo killer it will always be compared.

Never was marketed as a CSGO killer by Riot though. I’m not even sure where that even came from but, Val did kill NA CS & whatever was left of APAC CS. Think a few Chinese & Mongolian teams are all that’s left.

Still, Riot & Tencent never said that.

It’s how the game was advertised.
And cmon Phamous, you know that Val didn’t kill NA CS. Covid did. Covid hurt NA CS more than Valorant did. Valorant certainly didn’t help but it didn’t kill it. Covid nailed it in the coffin.

It’s a trend game. That’s the problem imo. It reminds me a lot of Fortnite in 2018-2019.

It's really nothing like Fortnite, though. Fortnite had an enormous casual player base, while Valorant's scene is far more enthusiast-driven.

I honestly think Covid & Riot helped NA orgs just move on lol. There’s no money in Valves ecosystem and every organization knows this. You have to think… Covid killed NA CS right?

But that same year Valorant releases and you had like 30 orgs join. T1, TSM, G2 etc. That’s why I say Valorant.

Cmon Phamous, you and I both know the issues with NA CS were occurring way before that. Players in the NA cs scene cared more about their egos and reputations over winning. It’s always been that way and it’s always been the issue with NA in almost every game. You see the same problems with NA VAL.

Of course all these new orgs will enter val. The game was brand new. In CS the only way to currently make money with the eu bubble was to be in europe full time. It hurt every region besides eu/cis.

VALORANT has artificial hype around it, remove watch parties and viewership will drop to half of what it is right now and will decline in future as well

not even half i assume

I never seen a brand new game esport develop that fast lol.

Still, with Valves open circuit system it just isn’t a viable investment in NA. Anyways, to the original point the game just wasn’t marketed as a CS killer. I do think Riot fanboys thought it could kill it off.

Valorant has all the advantages in the world that CS didn't for a loooong time, gtfo

declining as in the esports scene not in viewership. at this point csgo esports will only be played with the same teams and the same pro players. lack of regeneration except maybe only in EU.

the cs scene gets new talents every day tho?
new academy teams popping pretty much every month currently :DD
