It’s early season when most rosters are new and unexperienced, and they usually are playing in a fresh meta and map pool as well. The teams who place high or qualify to masters 1 don’t always carry those results over for the rest of the year, which is why I consider it less meaningful. It’s basically just a starting line benchmarking tournament and contributes way less to who the best teams of that year are.

In 2024 loud made a deep run in masters 1 only to fall off a cliff. Sentinels won and were washed by stage 1. In 2025 vitality made a deep run and were washed by the next stage. T1 won then fell off in similar fashion to sentinels. Masters 1 has a history of results that don’t seem to make sense at all in the context of the year as a whole.

I mean personally I feel that’s bc they have strong individuals more than them having extremely good teamplay. It’s for sure good, but it’s not as good as what I see from G2. It’s like the difference between an engine with great performance but not perfectly maintained parts and a super well maintained engine with less output.

I don’t think they are at the G2 level yet, and correct me if I’m wrong but that’s basically a core from only 2 years ago onward. Regardless it’s a gamble to blow up an existing system that has given results before and within this year with two fresh faces. If Kaajak and crashies stay I have little doubt they will continue to improve both individually and add their own strengths to the existing fnatic system.

Thing with NV is that the roster is basically cooked after winning ascension. Eggster probably gets cut at some point since one tricks don’t last long in tier 1, and the other half of the team is underage. Realistically you probably can’t do all that much with a core of poppin and inspire. I rather NV lose ascension to some other team atp.

You don’t need to make a change every time you don’t get results. If a team is made of winning caliber players like fnatic already is you should just stick to the roster and build up more team chemistry till you get what the G2 core have achieved.
