I was about to say the same about Phantom...

It'll depend on how they do it tbh. There'll probably be a group draw I'm guessing, considering there's no way to say how good one region is from the other. Or, if they do it EU > TR > CIS by the first seed, they would do 1. FPX, 2. FUT, 3. Gambit, 4. Guild, 5. OXY, 6. FNC, 7. BBL, 8. LQ.
Or, if they do it without seeding and just EU > TR > CIS it might be 1. FPX, 2. Guild, 3. FNC, 4. LQ, 5. FUT, 6. OXY, 7. BBL, 8. Gambit.
Or, if they do it based on relative strength it'll be a lot different and hard to say.
If someone knows where to find the rulebook that would be helpful!

It’s harder to tilt in LANs, but I think it will be an exciting masters either way

Some of my takes, will do (an absolutely shit, don't worry) rankings at the bottom. Will include some other teams just because they have a high chance at going to Masters. In no particular order:

  • Fnatic
Pros: Is a very good team, and their skill ceiling it outrageously high. This whole team can frag, especially Derke. They're one of the best Bind teams in the world, if not the best.
Cons: Derke, for all his prowess, still seems a bit inconsistent. cNed made him look like a joke. On a good day, with a good matchup, they can beat literally any team, but I'd say they have quite a few things to work out before they can really be a powerhouse.
  • Liquid
Pros: Between scream and jamppi, this team has an insanely high skill ceiling, with the brits on the team doing their best to complement the fraggers.
Cons: L1nk and soulcas. These players are mostly a drag to the team, even if they have their moments. They are just there to support the real carries. Challengers 2 showed what this team could look like with a little bit more consistency, so I'd love to see more of their peak
  • FPX
Pros: Consistency, map pool, a good read on the meta and strategies, and of course, fragging power. This team has a lot of it all.
Cons: Choking under pressure. Yeah I know, kind of a ridiculous thing to put as a con, but this team sometimes just like doesn't win their gun battles and falters in clutch scenarios. Also, some of the other best teams in the world have slightly more fragging power than them overall, so we'll see how they can adapt.
  • Guild
Pros: Synergy, consistency, a dynamic fragging duo as their stars, this team is definitely nothing to laugh at.
Cons: Kind of like a b-tier FPX to be honest, they have similar strengths and weaknesses. I don't think they'll overcome teams with better aim and enough preparation.

For NA, I don't really know which teams are going to challenger finals, so I can't really make an accurate assessment quite yet. I'll just talk about two teams for now:

  • Sentinels
Pros: TenZ. SicK. Shahzam. dapr. This team has probably the most fragging power in the world. With one of the best IGLs in the world.
Cons: Reliability on winning aim duels and not strategy. Their motto is: take fights, and win them. Not sure how that will bode in Challengers 2 or even Masters.
  • 100T
Pros: Between nitr0, Asuna, and Ethan, there is a lot of firepower on this squad. When Asuna is hot, this team is one of the best in the world.
Cons: Sometimes their strategies are a bit see-through even with steel as an IGL, but the biggest problem is inconsistency. Between their whole team, it seems that one or more of them is off every game, and it changes who it is. They need to get their act together as a team and all do their part each game.

Can't make accurate assessments of Brazilian and Turkish teams, but what I can say is that having watched some of their matches, the raw aim is definitely there and not lost on some of the best teams. In sum, I think the brazilian, na, and eu reps at masters will all be successful and somewhat even, but I'll do my best to do a rankings here:

  1. Sentinels
  2. FPX
  3. 100T
  4. Liquid
  5. Fnatic
  6. Gamelanders
  7. Futbolist
  8. Envy
  9. VKS
  10. Guild
  11. BBL
  12. FaZe
  13. Furia
  14. Gambit
  15. Sharks

Yeah that clip is definitely suspicious. Could just be luck as well, though.

What, exactly, is he trying to farm? He already has 4 stars...

you playing already in Chal 2 main event? If so, go hard king.

I think his point is that the majority of players expect SEN to win so they will be underdogs and have less pressure.

Sorry I keep thinking FNS is on GenG. Dunno why. Mixing NV and GenG I guess, both are pretty boring.

NRG 2-0 LG. LG will win if aproto is fragging out. Otherwise, not even close. LG look like a team waiting to be upset. NRG are still finding their footing, but it seems their potential is pretty high. Both teams aren't in top form, but I feel confident in NRG.

Honestly... I'm not a TSM fan, so don't call me out... But I think TSM take this one 2-1. I think TSM, for a while, have had a good read on GenG as a team. If GenG doesn't come up with come crazy shit, I think TSM could pull out an upset here. Both teams look shaky as of late, but the pressure is definitely on GenG. I think it's close either way.

I mean potter is supposed to be like super-smart good igl to make up for not being able to keep up in fragging, but it seems like they are getting outstratted every round. clawdia is extremely inconsistent and a bit of a baiter. Osias is kind of just there, meh. Temp and Alek are insane players who deserve to be on a Tier 1 team. That being said, EG obviously isn't going to drop this roster. If their goal was to be a competitive valorant organization, they wouldn't have signed potter and clawdia. They are just trying to turn heads. I wouldn't be surprised if Alek and Temp left if they got an offer from a better team, it's a wonder they haven't left already. There's no chance this team is even T2.

Yeah, agreed. I just think NA and EU are the most dominant, and I don't think BR has more than 4 quality teams, because afaik it's Furia, GL, VKS and the rest r pretty close

posted about 3 years ago

Obviously not perfect but it's the best way for now.

posted about 3 years ago

Also, maybe, you could seed the teams based on vlr.gg ranking and group them that way. (#1, #16, #17, #32) (#2, #15, #18, #31), etc.

I actually think FaZe has looked pretty bad recently too. If there's any quarter of the bracket T1 wants, it's this one. Good luck to them.

posted about 3 years ago

I might be braindead, but I feel like a better format might be: 8 NA, 8 EU, 2 CIS, 2 TR, 4 BR, 2 LATAM, 2 KR, 1 from the rest

posted about 3 years ago

Very cool that you did this! I don't really want to critique the predictions, so how did you make the groups themselves? Also, how did you decide the number of teams from each region? Imo, NA and EU should have more, CIS and TR should have 2 each, OCE and MENA should have only 1 ea.

Well, I'm pretty sure ghost isn't gonna make it to challengers finals, but you never know!

Only biased when it comes to 100T, but when I do analysis it's usually accurate. I'm allowed to have favorites and still write things unbiased.

She probably left tbh. No way they purposefully drop the best female on an all-female roster, right?

better be AT LEAST gold 3. Otherwise, no chance. MAAAAAYBE Iron 2 if you're good enough.

Ok too many people are dissing Elderflame, just because it's too hard to use one time doesn't make it a bad skin. It's one of the best if you use it for a while.

So I think this is good for TSM because they have the most experience of a lot of teams against GENG, and actually beat them fairly frequently. Even in Challengers 3 of stage 1. So, I think their real challenge is soniqs tbh. Of course, GENG and TSM will have both prepared, but it feels like GENG are at the disadvantage scouting and just in terms of style and matchup

I feel like there is a lot of Fin(ish)? talent in valorant at least. Mostly Canada, USA, Brazil, Poland, Finland, Spain that I’ve seen so far, and of course, Turkey

Phantom:

  1. Glitchpop
  2. Oni
  3. Ion
  4. Prime
  5. Singularity
  6. BlastX
(Top 3 are all insane, bottom 3 are preference)

Vandal:

  1. Prime
  2. Reaver
  3. Glitchpop
  4. Elderflame
(Glitchpop and Elderflame are pretty clunky before you get used to them, so if you’re pick, go reaver or prime)

Operator:

  1. Ion
  2. Elderflame
  3. Reaver
  4. Glitchpop
  5. G. U. N.
(Although for ops, the top 4 are all really good so just pick one from your favorite set or w/e)

Honestly my favorite style of event is like in soccer/football, where there's a round robin and then a bracket (like the world cup). Or, for individual groups, there's just a long double round-robin event (like the premier league).
