So we had the first-ever game with an Indian team going up against SEA teams on the Mumbai server.

VLT vs Bleed, VLT and GE both are looking shaky right now. Despite this VLT secured a dominating win (13-3) over bleed. Should I mention that VLT was playing without their IGL cause he is taking rest for RSI.

The rest of the two maps will be played on the Singapore server, so honestly, it could go either way. The thing I was surprised to see was players like DM and the rest of the squad were actually hitting their shots which was non-existent earlier. India basically lost most of the gunfights despite decent util.

Its still one game and I would like to wait a bit more before arriving at proper conclusions but this should actually be taken seriously by riot when they plan VCT 2022. Even a ping difference of 40ms is huge when it comes to pro play. Instead we, unfortunately, got to see SA playing at 70 ping in Mumbai vs 5-10 ping in Singapore and for TE it was even worse at 100+ms ping.

PS - Kinda sad that Bleed (Ex UwU) lost tho. Maybe they lost the name buff.

Edit: Just look at the thrifties from VLT. That shows how much better VLT was, tactically speaking.

I am actually cool with SEN. I watch Shahzam's videos and TenZ's once in a while.

Though I would still say this reflects the general opinion people have on SEN. Shahzam is considered cocky by many and people really hate on Dapr and zombs (mostly cause of personality).

skillz has a higher ACS than SkRossi.

Should GE make him the main duelist and make SkRossi play Killjoy?

I agree that Kappa is the weakest link, but in a group of 5, there will always be one weakest.

I think people here are really overreacting to just how weak Kappa really is. He is perfectly fine for tournaments in India. Even in the SEA landscape, he is decent.

During LCQ, GE was easily in top 5 Korean teams and top 5 SEA teams at the time (Sleepy, the coach of Alter Ego mentions that GE are equal if not better than the old Alter Ego from his experience of scrimming and analyzing the games just before LCQ). They beat Damwon and just nearly beat F4Q if not for a 1v3 clutch by FiveK. GE already was the best team in South Asia. You absolutely cannot do that without a player who is exceptionally bad at the game.

If you want to replace Kappa, you need to find a player that would

1) Be more skilled than Kappa (TBH there are 2-3 players like this out there)
2) Be available and not locked into teams (TE HsB and VLT R2A)
3) Provide more value to the team than Kappa, (Kappa has decades of experience, helps with mental which players like Lightningfast, SkRossi and skillz practically do not have).
4) The team wins more games than with Kappa.

With Kappa gone, you just have a bunch of young adults with raging hormones who will shout at each others in the game.
Even if you get a foreign player, conditions 1 and 2 might be satisfied (maybe also 3) but communication will take a huge hit.

There are just too many problems to resolve. Can they not trust GE management (who has to make money btw) to make the best team they can instead of passing judgements.

Putting forward a recommendation is appreciated and shows your concern towards a team you follow, but at this point, it's just harassment.

PS: Hyeoni and Kaminari are also at the bottom of the list. Do you really think NUTURN should have not played with Hyeoni? Also, Kaminari is probably one of the best supports in Japan.

posted about 2 years ago

I think a lot has to do with the team players.

NGL Shahzam has that cocky south asian gene. He was on the top of the world after winning a tournament with teams that came to iceland after upsets. (NUTURN was not as good as VS, V1 not as good as other NA teams, TL could honestly have beat SEN but V1 was just so annoying to play against).

Masters 3 was where the real good teams came in, Gambit, Acend, VS, the real good teams from EU and Asia came in to play. (except SEA) and they saw their place. Not only did they drop maps, but they also were not even top 4.

Dapr and zombs also have really hatable personalities. It puts off many people, especially from Asian cultures/snowflakes in other regions. Sick is neutral tbh. TenZ is the only innocent soul stuck among these guys which seems like they would cover a grandma's home with toilet paper if they were teens in your neighbourhood.

meh, people expect a sova to frag when you have skrossi in your team. So this guy has a point.

SkRossi kills half the enemy team by the time you are in post plant. After that lightning fast and skillz are also really good players and they take the rest.

If ever they die, Hellranger and Kappa have some of the highest clutch rates in India. In the entire game, you only have an opportunity to get kills if you are in clutches (And GE rarely looses in India). How will you be at the top of the leaderboard like this?

When it mattered the most in APAC LCQ. Kappa top fragged in maps and played well in general.
In local games, their silver asses just cannot see the value his util provides to SkRossi and friends.

Some irons on this website really like crying about the decision making of the best teams in India as if they know anything about team management.

posted about 2 years ago

If there is ever a clutch situation the players I would go for (at least in the Indian scene) would be Kappa and Hellranger.

Kappa is an initiator, I do not see why you expect him to get kills. At the same time, he and hellranger have some of the best clutch plays the entirety of Indian valorant has seen.

I don't understand why you guys cannot see the value he adds to the team with his utility. People complaining about his breach util act as if they are radiant and playing at top levels of gameplay like LCQ.

Yes, someone like Crazyguy or another top Sova from SEA would be good addition but I don't see a better sova in India apart from Rite2Ace. The guy saying smx carried any team has to be kidding me. At the same time, solo is ardent on being a content creator and not a professional player (who plays sova really well). If GE gets a sova from another region, I am all in, replacing Kappa with any other South Asian sova apart from Rite2Ace or HsB (from TE) is just ridiculous. Also, I believe bootcamping in Mumbai has helped GE a lot. I am not sure if a foreign player will like to bootcamp in India. Especially since we already know Shinobi had time zone issues working with GE.

I know right? it's unfair. I don't understand why an indie game studio wants to make a AAA title. All game studios need to make a good game with a good concept before moving on to such a huge project.

At the same time, I can feel the pressure on the devs because Indian kids cannot play anything apart from AAA titles cause they think graphics is the only thing to be seen in the game. No appreciation for indie games whatsoever.

posted about 2 years ago

understandably so, I just hope they can at least make a decent HUD and I don't have to play with NPCs that look like Michelin mascots in the prologue.

posted about 2 years ago

From what I saw from the gameplay, yes the graphics are better but,

The physics is still wonky
They haven't even worked out the HUD and even the NPC models.

There is still soooooo much work left that I believe this game is not coming out anytime soon.

Imagine how far the standards of games will have gone by the time this game releases. GTA 5 is already considered a very old game at this point.

I appreciate the work put in considering this is the first such major project but saying that this is comparable to other games coming out at that point is just useless.
Still will complete the game at least once to see what it has to offer.

Also, the environment graphics is the only thing that looks good in the game, that is easy to achieve using prebaked lighting. GTA 5 has dynamic lighting in most places btw. Just look at the character models to see what the graphics truly looks like. The main character in this game looks like plastic and the same is true for NPCs. Using pretty standard shaders from unity/unreal. But sure, whatever works.

Most probably a SEA team like X10 or Team Secret if they went up against the big names. They were looking good when they qualified but definitely not looking so hot right now.

You do you.

I have not watched Yu Gi Oh a lot. Too many eps and it was not streamed on Indian TV (at least on any channel I remember). It did have a decent plot though in the few arcs I watched.

Digimon was kinda meh from the start. Always seemed like a Pokemon clone.

posted about 2 years ago

Pokemon kinda doable.

posted about 2 years ago

Digimon and Yugioh cater very specifically to a younger audience. I just cannot watch it as an adult. Heck even a 15 year old me cannot watch them.

Unlike other anime shows like Naruto/Code Geass which can be watched by anyone above 12 years of age.

Anybody above the age of 14 probably does not care for these two shows anymore.

I guess never.

CSGO allowed custom servers for LAN games and other intents. FaceIT made an entire business out of it and has now taken over the CSGO matchmaking system.

Rito has definitely learned to keep a lot of its components closed to keep business viable. Sucks for the players but whatever.

As for the "We knife japanese in scrims clip" I cannot find it anymore.

posted about 2 years ago

yeah I agree, no excuses. GE played really bad that day.

But making fun of GE for one bad game is not a big brain idea either.

Also, your statement "Didn’t we all already agree that almost all the teams had around the same ping?".

I am not sure how to respond to this, GE vs Damwon was 75ms ping vs 80 ms ping in the first map. During the second and third map GE played in a ping disadvantage of 80ms while Damwon played on 40ms ping.

During the PRX game, PRX was on 5ms ping while GE was on 40ms. Add to the fact that this 40ms was not a stable ping and it was fluctuating due to the hurricane.

These are numbers shared by actual players from the teams. They played the tournament, not me, not you.

I do agree with you that the ping gap is not very huge (A lot of pros still disagree to this and consider 40ms difference to be a huge factor but whatever) but it is a disadvantage regardless.

All I can hope is Rito organizes better tournaments next time.

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah, I remember seeing his name in some Japan games and he used to have 100 ping in those. Used to wonder why.
