Didn't this guy retire?

The cope is just incredible. DRX owns the Korea region and DRX basically put Lakia in Contract jail and ruined the year 2022 for him. Compared to other initiators in Asia he is still top tier easily.

If that's the case then even Yay is not useful anymore because he showed his success in 2022 and will be irrelevant in 2023?

Apparently being top 3 internationally and being their star player, and on top of that, you show the world some unique stuff with sova, is not good enough for a franchised team.

You will probably never understand the POV of India and other SEA countries.

Nationalism is drilled into the people from day 1. Schools have choirs dedicated to entirely songs based on national pride. You have to sing along to those songs every morning in school since you are a child. It's almost a cult except millions of people are doing it and your country's government is sponsoring it.

Hardly anyone dares to criticize their own country in public. If they do, they are usually seen in a negative light in their countries.

TLDR: People are very nationalistic here. Something that people from EU or NA could possibly not even begin to understand.

Also no, people do not accept if they are winning anyways. Entity which owns a Dota 2 team which qualified for Dota's The International. I bet hardly anyone gives a fuck even if the org is Indian cause it has 0 Indian players. however, when an Indian team won a bronze medal in another Dota 2 event, the news almost spread to every living soul that has touched video games even if they have never even heard about Dota 2.

Even if optic won all the tournaments I doubt the prize pool would go more than a mil a year + that would realistically never happen.

Edit: duplicate

posted about 2 years ago

No org can afford 1 mil yearly except bleed maybe. This salary is unheard of.

posted about 2 years ago

Even Yay is not immune. Yay barely has 1 year of excellence. Valorant is too young to judge RN.

There are more prominent names than Yay disappearing. It is a risky job, even for the best in the world.

posted about 2 years ago

Yes, Flip was racist during a ranked game. Nothing new for him. No Indian Org would ever pick him or even try to be associated with him in any way.

posted about 2 years ago

*1 year, the first year they did not even compete in any games apart from APAC LCQ which was just breadcrumbs thrown at SA valorant so that it does not starve.

Imagine waking up one morning only to get baited on VLR on the 10000th SKRossi thread by a guy fake flagging for India.

Best duelist in SA for a whole year?

Last time I remember, GE has only played a handful of tournaments this year, the first LAN in which they won, Qualifiers 1 in which they were second and Enigma did not qualify, qualifiers 2 in which they were first and Enigma lost in the finals.

Rossi has very consistently beat Rawfiul with enigma. Given the fact that Enigma has a better team and more talented players overall compared to the GE squad.

Rossi has to basically carry GE, if Rawfiul does not pop off, others take the charge.

Having said that, any player in Enigma is not even close to players LFT in APAC right now.

Imagine SScary who is potentially one of the best controllers in the world (top 10 for sure) is LFT, then there is entire ONIC, BOOM, MiTH, Full Sense squad with JohnOlsen and PTC. Who do you think compares to these players from SA?

posted about 2 years ago

I don't think this is enough. Considering how powerful other superteams in the franchise is going to be, I think for now they should go with even better players.

posted about 2 years ago

Rawfiul chokes all the time.

SkRossi delivers constant performance which averages above Rawfiul and his explosive peaks are really really huge. I don't think they compare.

posted about 2 years ago

GE has multiple years to try and experiment.

If they get thrashed in Sao Paolo, they will inevitably have to include other country teams.

However, considering other SA players is just out of the question. GE needs SEA or KR representation to be better than the current all-Indian team. Who will they pick from SA? I doubt there are better players in SA than the GE core itself, SkRossi is easily the best duelist (and no Deathmaker does not come close) so Shooter is out of the question. SSSami from Bangladesh and Hikka from Sri Lanka are the only other decent SA pro players. But naturally, there are better flex options in India itself.

GE just embarrasses other SA teams from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Bhutan might not even have a single immortal player.

Considering all of this, the best way other SA teams have is maybe Orangutan winning big in Ascension (cause they have money but they are new) cause OG has already invested in Shooter and maybe will in the future as well.

That was a division that Riot made for valorant.

Geographically speaking, APAC contains everything from Iraq to Pakistan and India to Mongolia to China to Japan to Australia and New Zealand.

posted about 2 years ago

RRQ has existed for as long as I have watched esports.

They were good in CS they must be big in other sports as well.

posted about 2 years ago

Players will struggle and really want to get into one of the franchised teams.

posted about 2 years ago

Want to add to this that a lot of Indian players felt veeeeery proud when the Indian team won a bronze in Dota 2.

posted about 2 years ago

TLDR: Compared to a lot of other orgs in Asia, PRX is much newer, does not have boat loads of money and does not even have any teams other than valorant.

Compare PRX to some other orgs that got in - T1 and GenG, goliaths in the esports scene successful LoL rosters huge in other games as well, investing in NA(imagine) TS who is huge in Philippines and a big name in Dota, GE who has had CSGO male and female rosters PUBGM and valorant rosters which have been successful and all of them have very stable financials.

I think PRX def scored less points over on that side but made up for that with their resource management and fan base. Probably the first SEA org to have so many fans outside of SEA.

posted about 2 years ago

The issue is, PRX is a much newer org and honestly glad that they made it, even though their announcement video was targeting the individuals who thought they would not make it because of how small the org is and how deep their reserves go, their fanbase and content talent has maybe caught the attention of Riot.

They know how to spend the little money they have, hire a good content team, have a good roster, get a decent enough BootCamp etc.

Compare that to Bleed who has too much money and honestly doesn't know how to handle it. Even with 50M they could not set up a content team, they have a beautiful BootCamp but the only glimpses we saw were from when GE visited them and just wasted money everywhere.

He is already pretty good and a common name in APAC radiant leaderboard. All that while still playing CSGO as a pro.

Maybe we might get to see the brother buff right here in APAC.

Damn I thought it was during champs.

posted about 2 years ago

Champions is over, when are they announcing the results?

The analysts are hinting directly into the fact that some teams have already made it into franchising (Loud for ex, not that we are surprised anyways).

When is the official announcement?

You could argue the aspas knife was not luck, many Jett players do that with the OP when flashed. Even if you get flashed in an awkward spot, its better to spam in front of you rather than switch to a knife and run.

Quite common, you rarely hit shots but this was the one in a 100 shot that did + Aspas is a demon surely that helped with some mechanics.

posted about 2 years ago

Already exists in CSGO. You can try it for the experience.

Valorant has no plans of making something like that though.

posted about 2 years ago

They do tho? Just not as consistently as him. Yay's consistency with these plays is what is insane.

Just watch the post match press conference.

XSET very clearly wanted to put out the fact that THEY DID NOT INITIATE ANYTHING. They lost and they started packing their stuff up, it was Riot who asked them to return and replay the round.

The XSET coach also very clearly mentioned that FPX was venting out on the players themselves. Honestly who cares about what anyone says on twitter, but when you lack basic decency and refuse to shake hands/fists that just shows how sour you are. Also why tf do I need to shut up about boundaries? There is a clear difference between banter and straight disrespect/sportsmanship and it seems your small brain cannot comprehend this simple fact cause you are too blind of an FPX stan to see clearly.

Also quoting Ardiis - "If I gave my opinion, I will be fined by FPX, I will be fined by Riot and my career will be over" just shows how salty they really were.

"you're soft" - Dude your star player Suygetsu got mad at Stax for doing something on stage the rest of the audience did not even notice. For all, I know FPX are the ones who want to talk shit but cannot take anything in return.

BcJ is much better in this aspect because he does seem to be confident enough to have some banter and can take Ls unlike the team you stan so much.

posted about 2 years ago

There is a difference between banter and sportsmanship and it seems that EU frogs don't understand that boundary.

An FPX flair is like a flag of shame at this point.

All I remember is that Beyn is quite the cracked Aimer.

Beyn actually featured in Aimlab's all-star tournament as the sole rep from Korea and actually gave decent competition even if he got out first.

It was not a bunch of no-namers too, it featured TenZ fresh out of his Iceland win, Zexrow and Kariyu who is kinda decent in osu!

I am not sure how much pure aim translates to valorant gameplay though, pretty sure he can hit pretty cracked shots but his game sense and team play? I have no idea.

posted about 2 years ago

In the DRX vs Fnatic match, you could hear a woman screeching the entire game. Not sure if the audience is muffled.

In fact its better if the audience is muffled. It kinda gives the effect of being in a huge stadium filled with a crowd. With very clear audience mics you sometimes clearly hear hecklers and it kinda ruins the experience tbh.

Its all about money and clout.

If they make it to franchising (which they 90% will) they are guaranteed to go to the 30 team LAN regardless of their performance.
