What's wrong with losing to the undisputed #1 team in the universe?

posted about 2 years ago

Aw ok, the challengers 1 and 2 stuff kind of confuses me at times. Felt like a massive punishment, this makes more sense. Thanks for the correction.

If they somehow make it to Berlin now, hats off. Unless in the next few days they can pick up a good KJ main that can play the occasional Duelist when needed. Do they just bring Jammyz back again? He does have a small amount of experience on the Killyjoy but it’s nothing huge. And Zellsis really did well with his KJ in Iceland other than getting caught out a couple times with utility he was setting up.

Smh, V1 getting put into a shitty situation again, but this time completely on someone not keeping their mouth shut.

Nah this wasn’t it. It was on May 28 during a players check in.

“ On May 28th, during the team’s player check in and rule review session, Zellsis made a categorically offensive and discriminatory remark about a tournament official.”

If 100T can start taking wins away from SEN. I think that would be the most entertaining rivalry for NA Valorant. You have players on both teams that don’t really like each other from their CSGO days. All you now need is a battle for who is considered the better team. And the fireworks should happen naturally.

Any rivalry works for me though, they’re entertaining for the fans to watch.

I think part of the reason they qualified is like you said, ahead of the meta. I also think they flew under the radar a bit and peaked at the perfect time.

Though in saying that. Even as a V1 fan, I will be very surprised if they make it to Berlin. While I don’t think it was luck that they qualified to Iceland. They beat the teams put in front of them. But there was a lot of upsets in NA during challengers. When I look at SEN, C9, 100T, FaZe, Envy, and even teams like GenG. It’s hard for me to put V1 as a consistent top 3 team in NA. Then you have the teams like T1 and TSM that if they get their roles figured out, can be dangerous as the roster on paper is better than they’ve performed. Like I think there’s even a world SEN don’t qualify for Berlin, let alone V1. A C9, 100T, Faze or Envy in no order being the teams to go to Iceland is a very real possibility. They’ve all taken maps off each other in the past. No reason it can’t happen again.

Now I want V1 to make it to Berlin with Whippie to see how they can do on the international space with their true roster. While Jammyz was ok, Whippie looked just better IMO. If V1 wants to improve though, they need to work on OT strategies, every game that went to OT they lost. It cost them huge in the NUTURN match, and could have cost them the Team Liquid match too. Maybe just having Whippie on the teams fixes those issues.

I personally think the 3 strongest teams in NA are Sentinels, 100T and C9 (basing this off how well C9 did with a new roster on such short preparation time. Would not surprise me if they become NA’s best team going into Berlin.) And if C9 fail to live up to expectations many people have, throw a FaZe in the 3rd spot.

I would love it if both SEN and 100T make to Berlin. Because there’s already a rivalry between the two teams because of past CSGO history. Would be entertaining and good for the NA scene to have both teams take blows from one another. So even though I don’t really cheer for 100T, I want them to do well because of the entertainment factor. Would love if V1 got that 3rd spot. But for some reason I just have a bad feeling. Hope my boi Penny can show up again at a Major.

If the leak it true, I don’t know if it will effect regulation much. Maybe a small bit. I think that change is more for OT. So glass canon OP’s in OT can now carry one or two pieces of utility that they normally couldn’t have when it was $5000. Did hear some pro players a month or so back wanting a small drop in Operator price.

I was talking about this.

Absolutely. Really the only region I think NA fans give trash talk to on the regular is EU. And it's mostly in good fun, NA has rightfully been a laughing stock in CSGO. So when we finally win you best believe they're gonna be trash talk thrown back. I love friendly banter and trash talk. But sadly there are people from all regions in the world that take it too far. Also because of the language barriers around the world, some banter that is meant to be harmless can come across toxic.

I think most people just want to have fun with maybe some occasional trash talk that really means nothing at the end of the day. But the toxic people that take it too far draw our attention.

He needs CS to do well because as he said. His shit wouldn't fly anywhere but the CS community. And even there people hate him. If CSGO disappeared (It wont ever, don't know why fans think these games can't co exist) he would be out of job.

HIs complaints about the replay system are short sighted. CSGO didn't get one till 18 months after release. And devs have already said it's in development. Like yes, Valorant needs a replay system, thankfully one is coming.

? I would want nothing more than Soniqs to be a top team in NA. Honestly, NA and OCE are usually hand in hand in many esports. I would love to see OCE succeed. Love my brothers to the south.

An easy argument against this idea that Scream did better than TenZ at Iceland is if SEN did have such a better team over TL, then TenZ shouldn't be able to get as many kills and impact the round as much. There's only a certain amount of kills you can get per round. Yet TenZ placed first in the majority of stats.

Scream did great, but to look at the results. It's really hard to say he did better. And it's not like Scream doesn't have a cast around him that is good in it own right, they were EU's number 1 seed. Jampii did solid with the 12th highest ACS of the Master. L1NK got the 15th highest.

Saying Scream did better than TenZ is reaching I'd honestly say he would be 4th in the MVP race. Behind TenZ, Derke, and Shahzam.

So what’s your deal with Dicy? Yesterday you make a thread saying he would be a good fit for NV. Now you’re saying there’s reports. (which you haven’t provided, or given any details other than to trust you.)

Like I would like to see him on another team too if he can’t stop being a Jett one trick. But you haven’t given us any proof other than just to trust you.

Would be no different if I said reports are Sinatraa and SEN have come to a mutual agreement to separate, and he will be joining Luminosity once he’s allowed back in competition in September.

While I think EU has a better Top 5. I think the distance between SEN and the rest is smaller than what a lot of people here think. SEN is no where near unbeatable against NA teams. Also that top 5 above is missing C9, which has a very good chance after the showing they did in challengers when the team had been together for like a week to take the fight to SEN and take the number 1 NA spot in a couple months C9 in challengers beat SEN on Split 13-1. 100T, Faze, NV, C9 can beat SEN on any given day without much surprise. Yeah SEN would be favoured, but not like massively. 100T 13-3 SEN on Icebox before going down 2-1.

If C9 lives up to expectations. The Top 5 of NA could honestly be scary with multiple teams being in the fight for number 1. Like a world exists where SEN fails to make it to Berlin and it's not some crazy thing. V1 with Whippie is also just straight up a better team that went to Iceland. If teams like T1 and TSM finally get some sense of direction, they are a team that could break into the top 5, as the talent is there. That one might be asking too much with recent events going on lol.

Just wanted to say this as it seems a large portion of this site thinks SEN is some king of NA, and that it's SEN a large gap, then the rest of NA. And while they certainly are the current best, they can be beat. Even as a SEN fan, this Challengers scares me. It wouldn't really matter for Champions as they're qualified. But some combination of 100T, C9, Envy, Faze, V1 or some underdog like what V1 was can take up those Berlin spots and it's a very real possibility.

V1 is the team I literally cheer for, and while I think they deserve their number 2 spot when they have Whippie. I don't expect them to hold onto the Top 3 with the teams that stayed behind having something to prove. But I guess it's all talk until we see which teams go to Berlin from NA.

Be careful on this. Wouldn't be surprised if this changes after the State of the Agent's Update. Where they said they want to work on her utility being so smothering if you pair her up with another agent like Killjoy for example. So I am curious what they're gonna do with her.

It's also an agent that you need to have a good buddy in arms to work together with. In solo q she can honestly be meh compared to like an Omen or even Brimstone. It's when you have a friend or team to work off of where her strength comes out, and then some.

posted about 2 years ago

For me, it entirely depends on what map and where I am on said map and if the agent I am using is better suited to have more utility. If it's a long map like Breeze, I take the Ghost a lot of the time. If I am holding double doors on Heaven I will rock a Frenzy or maybe even a shorty if I am holding tree on Accent. I don't personally use the Frenzy much on attacking side unless the team is doing a set site rush.

I think the fall back of Classic and light armour is always solid is most situations, there's obviously times when you would prefer something else, but it's a good all rounder and usually allows you to pick up one extra piece of utility over something like a Ghost of Frenzy. If you get good with the right click the gun can be deadly. Which personally is something I need to get better at.

There really isn't a set meta with the pistol right now at least that I know of. It's use whatever you think will work best in the situation you are playing and play into that guns strength.

I am a big supporter of Sick. But he he did not have close to the success of TenZ at Iceland. Literally being at the bottom of the server for the first 2-0 Fnatic matchup. Then the following series against VKS overextended at times because his slow start (not my words, his and the teams during the interviews and the recent Shahzam streams). He did start playing like the Sick we know against NUTURN.

Stats don't lie, and at the biggest event Valorant has seen, he simply didn't play as good or consistent as TenZ did. Sick is amazing, but after TenZ performance you can't say he is just as good when TenZ had an amazing event top to bottom. I do think TenZ and Sick are in the running for the best 1-2 punch in terms of fragger duo in the game currently. And I do agree Sick gets unfairly overshadowed by TenZ at times. Sick is a monster.

posted about 2 years ago

As long as he trades me, bait me all day long. Especially on attack rounds.

posted about 2 years ago

I mean, call outs of the enemy team are not IGL ideas. They are literally what everyone should be doing. Good communication wins games. Give me 4 players with active comms over a quiet duelist any day.

posted about 2 years ago

Think that's too much, you got to have some kind of idea where he is teleporting off to if he's within the vicinity of you. There's a silent lurker, then there's a guy who can teleport to any part of the map around you and cap you with zero chance of winning cause he gives idea where he goes to.

Do agree with OP, make the animation much faster, and make his teleport beacon make slightly less noise to stop people camping it. Though this is less of an issue now with the beacon being a time refresh ability. So a enemy might just end of camping a beacon for 30 seconds and nothing happen. Make his foot step utility have some better uses. Which according to the state of play. Seems like they are doing.

I don't think they super far off with him. Some minor audio/animation adjustments to his teleport, some buffs to steps to make them sound a little more real (whether that is mimic the exact sound of a footstep of a player on your team, maybe make them act more random like walk, run, stop for a second, etc) And I think you have an agent that could get some play time on the larger maps like Breeze.

Oh, I am just joking. Coldzera's price would be huge, and I don't know if Valorant is ready yet for those. And those two names I listed weren't on Brazilian teams. Brazil really isn't in much better shape in CS than NA, they both have 1 Tier 1 team in Team Liquid for NA and Furia for Brazil. Then some Tier 2 and 3 teams like Pain, Extra Salt, etc. Not here to say which region is better, but both are not in the best shape.

Zews in a coaching gig might actually be available is he is willing to transfer to Valorant.

posted about 2 years ago

Coldzera recently benched on FaZe. Now is the time for BR VAL to make their superteam move. Zews as a coach available too /s

I don't know if the org really ever will regret it, though the Valorant roster itself might who knows. Even if TenZ falls off and just goes back to just streaming, SEN will get their investment back over time. It does bring in some good vibes for sponsors and investors for a team trying to shake of the Sinatraa allegations as well.

posted about 2 years ago

Why do fans who watch normal sports get excited when a team signs a big name? Same reason. And hey, no reason to get jealous of a dude getting that pay check. Tyson seems like a nice dude outside the game, good to see him become successful.

posted about 2 years ago

So basically it was another $1miliion on top of the $250K that had already been paid for the loan back in March/April. Considering TenZ's online and Twitch presence, I think both parties got a great deal.

posted about 2 years ago

Think both parties got off well. TenZ has quite a large twitch presence, so the contract buyout is not just pro play contract. He’s looked at by the community positively, something SEN can benefit from sponsor and investor wise after the Sinatraa allegations.

C9 also has a roster that in a months time could be taking the fight to SEN to be the best roster in NA. While I think TenZ could probably join any roster in a duelist role and he himself do well, C9 are in a good position and don’t need to try and fix what isn’t currently broke by trying to find him a role in a roster than probably doesn’t need him. That’s even if he was to stay in pro play while under C9.

posted about 2 years ago

The state of the agents update where they talked about the changes coming sounds good. Addressees the majority of people's issues.

posted about 2 years ago

I mean this Masters is the only one with 10 teams, and it’s because of the pandemic. The next masters in Berlin will have 16 teams. And while you can agree not having 24 makes it less important, just qualifying for the master through challengers is a huge undertaking, we had some of the best teams choke and fail to qualify. While those 24 teams have to go through a play in section and lose 8 teams right off the bat most majors. And to qualify for champions, it ups the anti even more, as it take literally every result through the VCT including the Masters into whether you qualify.

The games are different. So I don’t think we’ll be able to give everything a similar context to some type of CS tournaments. IMO through, gathering 16 teams, who all went through basically a month of games to qualify for a master give it enough importance to be called a Major in the Valorant world. While Champions literally crowns the which team one the games championship that year.

posted about 2 years ago

Just in case Replication mode becomes part of the competitive scene. :P

posted about 2 years ago

I definitely agree C9 don’t need TenZ. I think they have a really good team setup.

Once of those cases you remember esports is a business. In a perfect world both sides would come to an agreement they are better off apart.

There’s lots of guessing how much TenZ buyout is worth. But I don’t think the public knows how long is left on the contract. If there’s like 6 months left, SEN might just wait for it to expire and pick him up officially after Master 3. If there a couple years left, obvious a buyout is probably the only option it would seem.

posted about 2 years ago

He’s gonna be the Sneaky of NA Valorant lol.

posted about 2 years ago

Personally I think Masters are more equal to a major. And champions being something even above that, like I don’t think CSGO has a tournament that fits Champions roll as an end of the year tournament, it kind of its own this with a different title. Plus having a single major a year feels off. But that’s just my opinion, open to discussion.

posted about 2 years ago

ShahZ or TenZ. TenZ for his obvious stats he put up that put him number 1 in the majority of the important fragger roles. And then ShahZ for his great IGLing, basically be the teams coach and coming up with the majority of the teams plans. His fragging potential, especially in the first Fnatic match was huge too.

I personally would probably go with TenZ just because of how so many were expecting him to choke and not show up when it mattered most. But we got the complete opposite. But if ShahZ got it it would be well deserved just from the works he puts in outside the main stage on top of his get play and IGLing. SEN go together so well, making the team better than the sum of its parts. And I think Shahz plays a big part in that. Plus he tap danced as a pop off.

posted about 2 years ago

I think personally Steel gets more hate than he deserves. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not gonna light up the scoreboard. But he’s not a bad IGL. And it’s not like Canada has an abundance of Tier 1 IGL’s in Valorant. It’s like Steel or FNS to my knowledge for the IGL role (might be forgetting others). Unless you want to run a no true IGL setup.

posted about 2 years ago

Think it's adding up all the offical streams, and there's a lot, and that includes the watch parties. Youtube alone from what I saw had at least 150K between the streams, and that's probably isn't all the languages.

posted about 2 years ago

If National teams were a thing in Valorant. Something like in Overwatch. Who do you feel would be on the team your country and others.

For example my country Canada might be something like this.

Duelist: TenZ
Duelist: Penny
IGL and Support: Steel
Subroza if he can continue to play that Sky/Sage role.
Maybe like an Effys of FNS?

Options for players available are like Wardell, Marved, gMd and MkaeL off the top of my head. Haven't put any real thought into the team obviously, wanted to leave it open to discussion.

posted about 2 years ago

Don't really hate anyone really. Or at least they themselves haven't given me a reason to root against them. I just want a good show. Like I would love the Rivalry between 100T and SEN to become something like the Fnatic vs NiP Rivalry in the early CSGO days. Obviously SEN is on top now, but I think it's too early to count 100T out.

The amount of copium is OD inducing. Take your L and be gracious in defeat.

I thought TenZ was a choker and could never play on LAN? Amazing how your stories change so quickly after just one event. If anything the team in NA I would argue is trying to setup a superteam is 100T with them grabbing Ethan and Nitro. But you're right, NA went and made a super team with a player that hadn't played a professional esport before Valorant.

And I wouldn't be so quick to throw Sinatraa down, if he comes back to competitive scene on whatever team. He will be cracked. He was considered one of if not the best in NA, and consensus best Sova in NA before the scandal.
